based off that link, we are seriously overpaying for a coach

No, it isn't. Wrong again. She signed an extension that provided other bonus opportunities.

Throwing Summit around in this discussion is a red herring no matter how much she makes. It's like comparing Tom Brady to Brady Quinn

True. It also doesn't change the fact that Louie T is a moron.

i'm not going through pages and pages of google articles
i checked the entire first page to see if i could find a more recent article but they're all old, so i figured her contract was still in order
forgive me for not memorizing the salaries of a women bball coach from tennessee

Be glad you don't have Summitt, she was getting raises just to stay in the same ballpark as Pearl. There was a lot of pressure from "a certain demographic" to keep Summitt ahead of Pearl no matter what. But when Pearl got up to 2.7 Summitt was left in the dust.
Such a waste of money.

Maimieri can make 1m including bonuses.
From a link posted earlier.

With incentives for winning the SEC championship, advancing to the regionals and the College World Series, Mainieri can earn close to $1 million per year.

Ha. Neither did I. I googled "ncaa women's basketball salaries" and at the bottom of the FIRST page was the article I cited. I'm going to go out on a limb and say you weren't a particularly strong researcher when it came to writing papers in school.

She better have us in Denver next year for $900k

You certainly shouldn't be using something as a source for coaching salary that is 5 years old.

there was only one article dated more recently than 2006 and it had the same info as the link i posted

Yeah, so instead, you link a story that is 5 years old and then you make a direct comment that I don't know what I'm talking about.

this is from a story in June 2008:
(and btw just found another 2010 article saying UCONN women's coach is still highest paid at $1.6M/year.)
So it's safe to say both Summit and the UConn coach are taking home at least $1.7M/year with incentives and stuff. Probably closer to $2M.
(and btw just found another 2010 article saying UCONN women's coach is still highest paid at $1.6M/year.)
quote:
Connecticut women’s basketball coach Geno Auriemma has received a new five-year contract that will start at $1.4 million per year and increase $100,000 annually for the life of the deal.
Excluding bonuses, Auriemma’s contract will vault him ahead of Tennessee’s Pat Summitt as the highest paid coach in the women’s game.
Summitt’s deal, which runs through 2012, paid $1.225 million this season. Bonuses pushed the total payout to at least $1.65 million after the Lady Vols won the SEC tournament advanced to the Final Four and won a second consecutive national championship.
Bonuses also are available to Summitt based on the team’s academic achievements and national coaching honors.
Auriemma’s deal has bonuses for NCAA tournament and Final Four appearances along with national championships and coaching honors.
“This new contract is a direct reflection of the University’s commitment to me and the commitment that my family and I have to the University,” Auriemma said in a release.
Summitt’s base package of salary, TV/radio, endorsements and public relations increases to $1.275 million for 2008-09.
So it's safe to say both Summit and the UConn coach are taking home at least $1.7M/year with incentives and stuff. Probably closer to $2M.
