Search should start and end with Drink

Only 42 years old and originally from the south(Arkansas)

Don’t think he would leave for Arkansas but I imagine they’ll make him an offer for sure

Being from the south, he’ll definitely leave Mizzou

Drink would be a good hire. So would Clark Lea.

We get outcoached by teams with lesser talent every damn week.

You’re about to see the Contract game change

You cannot have massive guaranteed $$ and massive buyouts in the NIL era of massive collectives.

You’ll see higher pay per yr with little buyout

So we have enough money to buyout both CBK and Lane Kiffin's contracts?

Kiffin and Lansing would be great hires but they won’t be cheap. These 8-10 year guaranteed contracts gotta go, college football contracts need to be more like pro football contracts now that the college players are basically pro athletes. You buy your team these days so recruiting is much less needed. Get a 3 year coach under contract and hold their feet to the fire.
Some major university needs to be first and set the new standard. Maybe Penn State, LSU and Florida should collaborate to pave the way.

Not a clue, just pontificating on a message board.

I’m sure it’ll be another hot name,
Can’t miss hire that almost certainly will.

See: Tom Herman, etc etc.

Better find a proven winner, even if at a lower level or smaller school. Winners win.

CBK is doing exactly what he did at ND. Shouldn’t be a surprise

#1 Lane Kiffin - He’s an excellent coach and if his documentary is accurate, he’s turned his life around and seems like a great leader. LSU should have hired him the first time around.

#2 Jeff Brohm - He’s 4-4 against top 5 teams, which includes 3 blowout wins as the obvious heavy underdog. He’s from Louisville, he might not leave.

#3 Matt Campbell - He’s the winningest HC in Iowa State’s history. Only 45 and continuously does more with less, there’s potential if he had LSU’s resources.

#4 - Kenny Dillingham - Similar to Matt Campbell, but more unproven. This one’s a risk, but if you’re looking for young with potential, he fits the bill. He is from Arizona.

#5 - Jon Sumrall - He’ll get a P5 job in short order and is very likeable which would be refreshing at LSU. Somewhat gives me Billy Napier vibes having coached at a G5 team in S Louisiana. G5 to SEC is a different animal.

#6 - Eli Drinkwitz - Has been a winner at Mizzou, which is hard to do. He only had 2 winning SEC seasons, although this likely will be his third in a row.

#7 - Clark Lea - He’s obviously a good coach, but part of me wonders if he’s getting more credit just because it’s Vanderbilt. He went 7-5 last year, people make it seem like he won 10 games.

Let’s just keep BK for a few years and when James Franklin’s buyout is over we can have a better coach. Problem solved.

Woodward’s #1 guy would be James Franklin.

The only good thing about this is we could pay him peanuts and it would be fine because he’d be getting the massive PSU buyout

I wanted Kiffin as my clear #1 choice after the cookie monster.

When I heard we hired Kelly (didn't know he was available), I was thrilled and thought it was a great hire.

Kiffin would produce EXACTLY like Spurrier in the 90s if we ever hired him at LSU. I also think Lane knows that, and has eyed the LSU job for years.

I don't agree at all with you about Kiffin. I think he'd walk to BR and has wanted the LSU job for years.

I don’t want to see another contract longer than 3 years. I’d much rather see us spend big money to get the best, SEC-proven OC and DC that we can, and hire a youngish up and comer for HC. His contract shouldn’t be crazy, but would be loaded with incentives for 1) making the playoffs, 2) winning playoff games, etc.
Make him really rich AFTER he’s done something.
