Go figure. A professor who was teaching at LSU told a student at LSU that the students there were better than Harvard. I'm shocked.

LSU denies most transfer credits from out of state. My wife lost over 60 hours transferring from out of state.

Colleges look for any reason to deny credits. Transfer credits are based on the syllabus. Any discrepancy in the syllabus and it will be denied.

Not true. I transferred from LSU to a private school and had some credits accepted.

Not true at all, I graduated from LSU B.Arch. and was 100% accepted for my M.Arch. at Harvard 1970.
It's totally true today as well for 2009.

Hatch made a very smart decision. Not only will he get to play football, when he's done, he'll be making more money than 90% of his former teammates.

This would be true even if he stayed at LSU. Look at who his former teammates are.

That's probably a different matter since you were going to a graduate program though, right?

Not too bad.

+100000

that being said, I don't think Hatch is physically durable enough to play much longer even in the Ivy League.....

I think it is important to remember that he went from a public school to a private school. Regardless of the school, typically private schools do not take credits from a public school.

not true, almost all privates accept transfer credit from public universities as long as they're accredited.

meh. LSU had a Chem. Eng prof leave for the Univ. of Tulsa, and he told his students there that he thought they were much more capable than LSU students. This is what profs do.

For the record, I have either TA'd or taught classes at LSU, Columbia, and Westpoint. And would put them in order of Columbia - Westpoint - LSU; top to bottom. however, my best students at LSU were just as good as my best at Columbia and the bottom of the classes were about of equal intelligence as well. I just found that my LSU classes had fewer that could compete with the top of my Columbia classes.

thoughts?

If anyone here wants to get into Harvard, if you're from South Louisiana, in the ethnicity section, check the "other" box and write in "Cajun".

I think it's a US recognized minority. Then, when they deny you, call Jesse Jackson and say "the rich elitist are denying me my civil rights", but whatever you do, don't tell Jesse you're white! Or the game is up,

This is the only order I care about, the football order

LSU - Army - Columbia
...top to bottom

i think that's a very fair statement....the top students at LSU can compete with anyone....but there is a larger section in the middle than the nationally selective universities

The denial of credits is probably due to Hatch's course load and body of work performed at LSU...it's got nothing to do with snobbery.

It has EVERYTHING to do with snobbery. In all my years in the work force, I've never seen an LSU alum turned down for any opportunity simply because he went to LSU.

I've never seen anyone hired instantly because they went to any other university. Even precious Harvard.

The truth that the Ivy League doesn't want you to know is that the best students from any university are pretty much the same across the board.

I won't deny that the average Harvard student is "better" than the average LSU student in the classroom. But the high achievers are pretty much going to kick arse in the classroom regardless of where they study.

The notion that LSU somehow is "only a step above a community college" is a MYTH, perpetuated by people who have a vested interest in promoting themselves and keeping LSU and other universities like us down. And everyone buys into it like it's the red text in the gospel.

When are all of you going to stop taking their elitist bullshite and start standing up for LSU?

Stop taking their word for it that they're SO MUCH BETTER than LSU. The reality is, they really aren't. They've just been at it longer.

And what they've been "at" is self-promotion, p.r. and selling themselves. Meanwhile, at LSU, we're terrified of saying we do ANYTHING well.
