I’m convinced Wally must have fricked your wife. You bring him up constantly. You keep claiming Sid Crocker was a legend, but that wasn’t always the case. He started as a noob LSU football announcer and developed into a “legend”. Why don’t you quit being such a bitch about Wally and listen with an unbiased ear? Also, ain’t no university doing a national search for a PA, radio play by play absolutely, but for PA no way.

This is LSU apologizing to Huey for the twerk fest.

What a lazy politically driven selection. To think that there was true talent out there applying for this dream job and the rich kid got it because he wanted a new shiny toy. Some parts of the LSU football experience need to stay genuine. Not everything should be about how good of a servant you have been to the back woods good ole boys club.

Havent read the thread but this is the work of our fine Governor tearing our beloved institution down brick by brick.

2 different things. Dan came up with his couple of famous phrases organically. He didn't show up to the stadium trying to use his voice to be part of the show. He got excited during big moments, of course, but otherwise he just fit nicely into the background

The PA guy at women's basketball gets out of his car at the PMAC trying to be part of the show

"True talent" applying for a 7-8 day a year job

Good thing this board didn't exit years ago. Sid Crocker getting the job would have been today's equivalent of Jacques Doucet getting it. The rant would have gone nuts. "How is a sports reporter qualified for this job?!!!!" It would have been even worse when Borne got the job. "This is ridiculous!!! How is a guy who worked in politics and industry qualified to take over for a legend?!!!! He clearly just got the job because he had ties to Edwin Edwards and Russell Long!"

Unlike the first two, you now have a guy who's actually done PA announcing at LSU sporting events and his selection is "tearing the institution down brick by brick". Holy hyperbole! It's the PA announcer for Goddsakes

Two things can be true: he can be a nepo hire, and he can be “fine”.

LSU can do better than fine.

You sir are quite the bitch, and I can’t wait to sit in Tiger Stadium and watch the tigers win knowing that your headspace is occupied by Wally and Dixon. That you will never be able to celebrate any tiger accomplishment in Tiger Stadium without hearing Dixon’s wonderful voice and since you are probably older than me, knowing you will have to endure the McMakins everytime you enter Tiger stadium for the rest of your miserable life. Enjoy your hell, cause it’s real. Bitch!

Geaux Tigers! Congrats Dixon!

Emteein I am laughing at you. You are pathetic and ridiculous are you Dixons lap dog?Wonderful voice you can't be describing Dixons voice or you have never heard it. The only thought I give to the McMakins is it's a shame the Voice of Tiger Stadium was bought and paid for by Wally for a person who multiple people have described in this thread as a douche or a tool. Look at the up down votes on the original thread it's 93 down to 23 up which i will explain to you since you have limited comprehension abilities is 80% against. Thanks for the good laugh Emteein you are a joke. You have given me one thing to ponder i will admit who is the bigger douchebag you or Dixon!

Though I'm sure it won't end the debate, here is a comparison between the two calling basketball games

McMakin

Borne

LSU v Florida 2019

Obviously the voices are different. But that was going to be the case for ANYONE LSU hired. Otherwise, IMO, the calls are mostly the same. Borne has the benefit of 40 years of nostalgia built in. It's a familiar voice that has been the "narrator" for many great LSU moments. But that wasn't the case when he started. Fans just knew he wasn't Crocker.

If McMakin remains the PA announcer for 20 years you'll have a new generation of LSU fans lauding him and hating whoever is hired to replace him.

Doubtful. He’ll be on to the next rung of the ladder.
