Back in the 60's and 70's you had Nicklaus and Palmer. Today, we have Scottie Scheffler and our own Sam Burns. As of this date, Scheffler has won 4 tournaments and Sam has 3,,,this year alone. The two of them are dominating this year's tour. From what I gathered, both are friends and I am looking forward to more shoot outs Geaux Tiger Sam.

What's wild is they aren't missing many cuts. Sam had a stretch of a few, but otherwise he's been not just making cuts, but getting 3 wins along with 4 others in the top 5. Him and Scheffler will be perennial ryder cup players and as long as he stays healthy, Sam will be in the top tier players to ever play at this rate. He has all the tools you want in the game today and being a great putter helps you on every course. Two of his tournament wins have been insane off the green putts in the playoffs.

The one extra tournament that Scheffler won is pretty big though.

So you are comparing two of the greatest three golfers of all time to two flavors of the week?

I mean one is the number one player in the world who just won the Master's. The other is the #9 ranked player who just won the tournament after the PGA that only half the field plays in.

I wouldn't call one of those "dominating"

I like burns and scheffler but this is one of the more ridiculous comparisons I’ve seen in here.

I get being excited about Burns/Schleffer winning, but it's half a season. And 1 major.

I'm a Burns fan.....Choudrant/LSU/Toms/etc....but while that was a hell of a comeback....pump the brakes. Let him roll on, win a major or two....

They are good friends. Both bring their wives on tour and often are housemates. I think they shared a house rental for the Masters.

Yeah, a Burns/Scheffler rivalry is about the same as a Jordan Spieth/Justin Thomas or Dustin Johnson/Brooks Koepka rivalry. More like a friendly competition for $1.2M

You'll get downvoted, but the best rivalries stem from animosity between the rivals. A "rivalry" where the rivals are "good friends" isn't a great rivalry. If one at all

I think you’re giving ole Bob too much credit. I think it’s more of the old “golf sucks” type post.

That being said, comparing Burns/Scheffler to Nicklaus/Palmer is ridiculous.

The more interesting topic would be can Burns surpass Toms as LSU's most accomplished golfer. I think it's pretty obvious that Sam is well on his way, but lets not forget how good DT was.
13 wins, 1 major. Was in the top 10 in the world for better part of 7 years in the Tiger era. Throw a US Senior Open in there too.
