I called you a name? Sorry George had to fight your little battle and we've moved passed this little hiccup, but thanks for joining the conversation again.

I fully understand what you're saying. I understand that the negative publicity is a bad thing, because it places additional pressure on the NCAA to find something and not look impotent. And if you look hard enough at any program I'm sure they'll find something.

But I still stand by my earlier statements, concerning your Auburn analogy being misplaced. If you want to cry about that feel free to.

After reading the article that was posted on ESPN it almost seems as if this was done as a favor to scout.com.

Why mention their service and price? It reads like an advertisement for them instead of a news worthy article.

from the article

quote:

Like a representative for scout.com, Richard Davis, national sales manager of Player Direct, which is the college recruiting arm of Digital Sports Video, said he was unaware his company's footage had been used by Lyles, who was not a client of the site. "We had suspected some recruiting services got to our (video) library," Davis said. "We are a password-protected site." Davis said his company has footage of 60,000 high school games on the site's server and colleges pay up to $25,000 for access to the footage. He said he's recently made some security adjustments to the site to prevent "third-party influences" from continuing to obtain access to it illegally. "As Oregon shows, one mistake, the whole third-party process comes under scrutiny -- and it should," Davis said. "I don't like to see kids and their parents misled and taken advantage of."

I have no doubt LSU knew who they were dealing with, but I don't think anything will come of it unless Lyles rolls over on us.

Recruiting is dirty...always has been and always will be.

An earlier post seemed to insinuate a Lyles & Mett connection which made me laugh my a$$ off.

As if The Mettenbergers were allowing a cat like Lyles to pimp out there son. Haha!! Laughable!

this seems like an open and close case; not sure what all the fuss is about

LSU paid peanuts to some dude for shitty videos and excel spreadsheets. LSU again paid peanuts for all recruiting data (14 databases and video for 100k)...all schools do this, our compliance office is obviously the tits. nothing to see move along

It doesn't seem like the NCAA had found shite with Auburn, and you know damn well how guilty they are.
They ain't out of the woods yet.

The NCAA investigation of Auburn ramped up after the Destin incident. Be careful what you wish for, Gene Chizik.

•This is a quote from Sheridan: "As I understand it, the NCAA is trying to get an alleged 3rd person or bag man to come forward."
•Sheridan reports that the investigation is all about Auburn and not about Mississippi State.
•If the NCAA can put it all together, major sanctions will come along with vacation of the national championship and Heisman.
•Sheridan closed by reiterating that the NCAA thinks it knows the "third party" who put up the money to pay for Newton's signature.

Anybody with sense knows AU has ramped up their level of cheating in recruiting to keep pace with Bama after their 2009 Title.

Same thing happened after Bama's '92 Title.

I personally think The NCAA is gonna hammer AU and their delusional fans are whistling by the graveyard thinking they will emerge without major sanctions.

I'm hoping this NFL lockout ends tomorrow so OTL will forget all about this.

That sounds a little bit like our fanbase. Although these allegations aren't on the level of Auburn, USC, Oregon, or Ohio State. I don't think we get hit with anything new, but the untarnished record of LSU and NCAA compliance is now gone, which puts us under scrutiny similiar to that of Bama or Florida

I would just be happy if the Yahoo guys would just take a vacation and go check out the BE or something for a while.

Those guys pretty much are the angels of death of college football right now.

If LSU received the crappy stuff that is alledged, it certainly looks bad. Have said all along that any association with these third parties is just too easily corrupted.

6k is a pittance in teh world of college football

recruiting service budget? - over 100K annually
head coach salary - 3.8 million annually
O/D coordinators - 1.2 million between them
other coaches - hundreds of thousands of dollars

Even if Lyles spent 11 months a year fapping to "the best of horny MILFs part 8" - he would be worth ten or a hundred times the 6K annual salary he received - if he identified 3-5 players a year LSU ended up recruiting and landing

The amount of money everyone else is making is so much more - lyles is a rounding error on the LSU/TAF budget. Just one day of Les Miles salary is well over what Lyles was paid for a year

But by all means, lets talk the story up - I'm sure a guy paid 6k annually to hoof his arse all over the south is a bigger story than the latest Auburn recruit waving around a handful of cash worth 5 times that much

LSU shouldn't be lumped into the category of an Alabama, AU, USC, etc. in regards to cheating. I think LSU actually gained respect in regards to how they handled things. Nobody wants to get sanctioned, but we came out about as well as you can.

What LSU did pales in comparison to what other schools have done...ie...hundreds of thousands of dollars to guys like Albert Means and Cam Newton.

Direct pay for play to athletes/family members IMO trumps pretty much every other NCAA violation in my book.

Impermissible phone calls etc are a joke. If the NCAA should be in existence for anything, it should be for crap like Means, Bush, and Newton.

And no...I realize LSU is not necessarily above this type of practice.

Hicks got some rides to campus and stayed at a student workers apartment. Baby $hit compared to what's going on around the country at places like AU.

I figured. Still dont like him even though he doing his job.

But 6k is chump change. We have a recruiting coordinator who gets paid for coaching and finding recruits in our home state. So to send someone to cali and kansas would cost more than 6k. Oregon probably woulx have had to shell out more than 25k to send coaches roaming the state of texas.

Does it say they paid lyles directly george? No they paid the companies he worked for. The diff is the 6k was to his company ran by lyles.

Will Lyles on the field during a game in Tiger Stadium doesn't seem fishy for a scouting service to you? Just playing Devil's Advocate.

Lsu vs UF game. One of the biggest games of the year since 03. A whole lot of people were there. And he was there with lache. Why would he go with marsh or reed? Reed had been to lsu many times before that. Let me guess lyles drove to cali picked up marsh the lache on his way back to texas then went and picjed up reed. Oh and none of those players ended up at lsu. If we paid him to sway recruits, we got fricked and deserve the hammer. A long with cal and oregon and texas and auburn.

so we bought a bunch of recruiting package bundles that happened to include some players that were already at other places....not a big deal...the ncaa has already wrapped up the lyles ties to lsu...the ncaa dosent care about the videos or the prices they just wanted to make sure we were not paying for him to swing players towards lsu. OTL is trying to make a story out of nothing. LSU is in good standings with the NCAA and has cooperated completely...nothinh to hide that regards to lyles
