Do inner city folks anywhere keep up with college football?
Most big football colleges are not in major cities.

If not, then the reason is the one you stated: because today's college football powerhouses are not located in the USA's largest cities.

the majority of my graduating class went to LSU...and i graduated in 1989 from highschool...LSU had instituted some standards by then and also some incentives to choose LSU if you performed well in school...

People need to seperate Catholic and private schools here. The Catholic schools- Jesuit, Brother Martin, Rummel, Holy Cross, Dominican, Mt Carmel are all pro LSU. The private schools- Newman, Country Day, St. Martin's, Sacred Heart, McGehee are all more likely to send their kid out of state. Assuming the tuition at these schools is $15,000 a year, they can send them out of state pretty easily.

From Metairie, graduated Rummel and then LSU.

all the way thru high school, I didn't really follow LSU, it was all about the Saints and random NBA/MLB teams and I'd say the same for my household.

Once I started LSU, I then became a huge LSU fan. Guess it's different for everyone.
