I think Tubby is a solid coach. He may not be the best coach in America, but he is a proven solid coach. I think this program could use a few solid years, and if we had a little luck, maybe a good run in the NCAA Tourny. The first step is to get to the tourny, and I think Tubby is good enough to do that.

If somebody asked you a week ago, "Would you be happy if LSU got a basketball coach that has won a national championsip?" Don't you think you'd be happy with that?

I agree with the sentiment that Tubby would most likely get LSU back into the tournament (and back on the map) and make the job more appealing for the next coach.

Hell No. He is past his prime. He will not be able to relate to the younger players. Probably doesn't know how to text.

Apparently Minnesota AD is retiring soon and he may be trying to get out while timing is right - at least we would be a solid NCAA/NIT tourney participant year in/year out - not sure I can say that about any other of the candidates.

He knows SEC landscape. He had a player from LA on his roster last year so I don't think recruiting would suffer.

You can't be serious. He's younger than Boeheim and Calhoun, they seem to relate to players fine.

The reports of Tubby Smith came from the CBS Sports guy that originally broke the news of Trent Johnson. The local radio guys just reported that.

Forreal? I was planning on digging guilbeaux on twitter but I guess I can't now. We have a steady twitter boxing match. He's lost every round.

Pretty sure Tubby has actually been offered the job. He is pondering whether to accept.

(Pilfered from certain other "pay" sources.)

Wow that's higher than I would have thought.

Tubby is a solid x&o's coach but I think we need an aggressive, energetic recruiter and Tubby just is not that.

Just checked his record. Never had a winning record in Big 10 in five seasons.
