New concessions, not sure if Aramark is any better though

LSU is beginning a partnership with a new company to operate its athletic concessions.
The school is entering into a 10-year contract with Aramark Sports, according to the agenda for the upcoming meeting of the LSU Board of Supervisors. The deal must be approved Friday by supervisors.
Compass has operated LSU’s concessions since 2002. The school is not extending its contract with the company. It ends June 30.
Aramark, a Philadelphia-based company, agrees to pay LSU a minimum commission guarantee of $2.4 million per year. The commission guarantee will only be paid to LSU in years that the percentage of gross receipts from all concession sales paid to the athletics department does not exceed $2.4 million.
The company will also make a $1.6 million investment for improvements to the food service facilities and concessions — presumably part of LSU’s plan to renovate bathrooms and concessions in Tiger Stadium. Aramark will also provide $1.5 million as a commission advance for the upcoming year.

They run our cafeteria at my work, they do great there. But I've seen horror stories about their stadium concessions.
There were some issues in Kansas City, but I don't remember if it was the Royals or the Chiefs.

They do the Astros too - the food at the Minute Maid Classic was just awful as well.
Oh well, I thought it might get better, apparently not.
My guess is it will be a cluster the first sept home game!

Way to go LSU
quote:
The move comes as a Nashville judge on Wednesday ruled on the side of the Titans in a lawsuit filed last Friday against the NFL organization by Aramark, a corporate giant in food services whose performance the Titans called poor and "inexcusable."
quote:
Titans President and CEO Steve Underwood put the company on notice after a July 3, 2015 soccer match at Nissan Stadium between the U.S. national team and Guatemala where around 100 of Aramark's 300 employees did not show up, causing long lines throughout the game. The episode garnered national attention as a fiasco.
quote:
Chief among newly surfaced issues: A substantial number of suites did not have any hot food for an hour after the gates opened, and in some cases longer.
The same consultants had already identified a pattern of poor food quality, inadequate staffing within general concession areas that caused long lines, chronic food presentation issues in the club-level, and a “general lack of differentiation” between premium and general concessions areas.
quote:
In addition to complaints on food services, the Titans accused Aramark of failing to provide financial statements and gross receipts within two business days of the event to the Titans, as stipulated in their contract; furnish the organization with revenue projections on a monthly and annual basis; and provide an accurate statement of the use of investment funds by Aramark.
More damning, the Titans alleged that Aramark had failed to pay the team half of net subcontractor receipts after paying Rocket Man, a Kentucky-based vendor management company that Aramark used in Nissan Stadium.

Aramark is not very good from past experience. But there are not many options.

Aramark is so, so, so, so, so fricking bad at stadium concessions.
I've never seen a stadium worse than the Titans in this regard. The employees would just not show up, the ones who did show up would be on their cellphones and not pay attention, the food was always cold and soggy, the prices were ridiculous, and the lines got outrageous because they were so damn slow.
It was a running joke in Nashville. They had to bring them to court to fire them.

Double edged sword: There's a major unaddressed process/capacity issue and if the concessions were any good, we'd never get up there to even order.

Why not use Centerplate?
Posted on 5/4/17 at 3:50 pm to nicholastiger
so, $25 chicken tenders now?
Posted on 5/4/17 at 4:02 pm to nicholastiger
If they frick up the Tiger Dogs, I'm gonna throw a fit. Those things are on point.
Posted on 5/4/17 at 4:02 pm to nicholastiger
they are so bad that the state prison system here in Michigan got rid of them. they suck.
Posted on 5/4/17 at 4:02 pm to nicholastiger
If Alleva signed off on it, you can count on it coming in well below expectations.

Sounds like a much better financial deal with a guarantee. It's been a few years since I was involved in it, but LSU never came close to making $2.4 mil.
I'm sure it's all about the dollars and not about the quality.
