The student section at basketball games is like if you made a bunch of retarded kids (all 10 of them) watch a Duke student section from 20 years ago and told them to spend an entire season doing their best imitation.

I had a buddy who went to Duke who told me he didn't sit with the "Crazies" once in 4 years because they were so weird. Maybe its just the nature of a basketball student section.

Probably trying to get rid of the name "Maravich Maniacs" because the section kind of turned into a bunch of maniacs.
I heard the Athletic Department won't let them use it anymore. They call themselves "Mike's Maniacs" now.

So the Facebook group and the physical group are two different entities with different names?

The AD wouldn't let the students use it as the name of a facebook group

holy frick
Seriously, when was the last time that section was relevant?
I remember going to a few games during the MT era when LSU lost to UNC in the NCAA tournament and the place was poppin', but that was before they moved the location

I hope it's supposed to be an unclever nod to LSU's military history. Then there would at least be a reason for such a lousy name change.

Who does LSU pay to come up with these slogans and nicknames?
I dont blame them. They are grasping at straws trying to get the lazy apathetic students in the seats to support the team. Auburn's student section was hoppin' Wed night. It amazes me that LSU has an enrollment of 30,000 yet cant put 500 people in the stands to cheer for the team. Especially if you live on campus you should be ashamed of yourself. Campus' all over the country have intesne rowdy student sections. I cannot think of one more pathetic than LSU's. Anybody watch Vandy last night? Their student section was outstanding
:YES,I have season tickets:

Students have priorities. Follow that logic and force them to attend the club sports, too.
It's all about the product. A few years back I attended a women's volleyball match with a friend who was a coach. The game was exciting, LSU won a tough match, and the crowd was into it. And believe it not, there was a crowd. Smaller the men's bball obviously, but lots of families with daughters who play, and even students.
If men's bball can approach a level of entertainment that justifies a student taking two or three hours out of their day, the place will be packed.

give me a fricking break. Look, I was in college once. Got 2 undergrads and a masters all while playing football. I made it to most every basketball home game to support my fellow student athletes. Dont give me that priority shite. College kids have tons of free time (even the ones who work)
Smoking weed, playing PS3, and going to taco bell does not constitute a busy schedule.

I think this bball team might surpass the excitement you speak of.

No way I could hold a straight face to any student who said this. Not even close to my experience with anyone while at LSU.
