- averaging 10 wins a season, despite having one of the worst defenses in the country!
- beaten Alabama
- recruited Daniels to LSU and he won the Heisman
- 3 first round draft picks last year - all are doing well in the league
- convinced Nuss to return
- landed the 6th best recruiting class in the country last year
- on pace to possibly sign the No. 1 recruiting class in the country in 2025 and maybe the highest ranked recruiting class in program history
- has put together one of the best OLs in the country and both tackles are project to go in the first round and Campbell may be the No. 1 overall pick in the draft

And after all of these accomplishments, we're told the expectations for $9.5M/ yr coach in year 3 at an elite program is a top 12 regular season finish?

Play out the scenario where we fired BK. The great recruiting class falls apart. Current players hit the portal. These days with the portal, you have to have a big hire ready to go if you get rid of a coach. So I think that gives BK a bit more time to put his pieces in place. We are all dissatisfied with opening games losses, bad decisions and the uneven team (strong O/weak D). But as long as BK is making improvements (staff/team depth, etc) I see him staying as he is likely better than the alternative.

Question is who is a better alternative?

Ultimately, Kelly will be judged by wins and losses just like any other head coach. Having said that, Kelly has done a very good job of transforming an LSU program that was a train wreck at the end of Orgeron's tenure; watch a replay of the LSU vs K State bowl game to see just how bad we were. I think that his recruiting has been good and is trending upward. His initial defensive hires were not good, but he has addressed that situation. He did not bring in any real difference makers on the defense from the portal, and that has to change.

What did you guys expect when Kelly took over?

Here goes:
Someone capable of securing a top ten recruiting class every year. Geographically, this is a requirement of an LSU coach. There is no excuse not to do so.

Competent coaching hires at all positions. LSU pays up for assistant coaches and coaches want to coach at talent rich schools.

An well structured team.

A team that is held accountable in all phases.

A coach that maximizes his talent and puts players in their best position for success.

That's it. It's up for discussion where he is on each of those.

To be fair debour didn't inherit a loaded roster, they lost alot of players to the portal when saban left, and lost recruits

What are you talking about? Saban had 5 stars, stacked on top of other 5 stars!

Alabama finished with top recruiting class in 10 out of the last 13 years!

Sure they lost a few players, but when you have 5 stars stacked two and three deep at every position, you can afford some attrition.

In the history of college football, name one college football coach that took over a program that had more talent!

You don't have to look far because it doesn't exist!

We got more dead bodies because O ran us into the ground. He was more focused on chasing blonde arse around the country than chasing stud recruits.

Since you're not a Kelly fan, name one D1 head football coach that took over a shitty program comparable to where LSU was at that time and has accomplished what Kelly has in such a short period of time!

Saban took over a pretty shitty Alabama program and he was only 7-6 his first year and even lost ULM.

He literally said to judge him now. The output is underwhelming.

I think we’ll learn a lot about CBK and this team, state of the program, etc. from tomorrow’s game.

They don’t HAVE to win, but they need to play well, be prepared, look like a team that’s got their shite together.

Aggressive, mean defense. Very few penalties. Some pressure on Dart. Good mix of pass and run.

High paid SEC coach oughta be able to field a team like that for the first big conference game of the 3rd season.

Correct he’s been flawless . Better than Saban , Miles and O in their first 3 years

Edit: I stand corrected , they all achieved more by year 3. But did they have to deal with 23 scholarships ?!?!?

The problem is the lack of preparation as evidenced by the slow starts, the 2022 debacle against A&M, and not making a change on defense last year after the Ole Miss game when it was obvious that there was a serious problem with the DC

one of the worst defenses in the country! Falls on the head coach regardless of the level of football being played. Three consecutive season opening losses is worrisome. Coming out flat and losing to arguably the worst Texas A&M team in 2022 was inexcusable, especially after beating Alabama a few weeks earlier.
all this.
