a level headed opionion and respected. You don't have to bash the guy like some do to get your point across. I admit i have some reservations about les as well, but other that a few boneheaded mistakes the program at this point is in great shape. If no improvement in a couple of years there might be a change. But i see no reason for that now. The guy really has only about 9 years of headcoaching experience.

But it's ok for you to "brand people".
Perhaps you should "grow the Fcuk up" before you pass that advice on to others.

Les has been more than just LUCKY
In that you are right cause one doesn't win 51 games, 2 West titles, an SEC title, a national title, and go 4-0 in bowl games in 5 yrs due to luck only.

Yes, Les, could stop trying to run the LSU Football team as if it were some multinational conglomerate, where he as the head coach occupies a boardroom and lets the various assistants run their little piece of the team semi-independently.
Fundamentally I think Les has forgotten the first word in his title, Head Coach. Which means the buck stops with him when game clock management and play calling (e.g. Ole Miss) is botched.
I'm definitely not a positiger for whom Les is a god. He's just another guy who happens to be employed by LSU at the moment. Coaches come and go (e.g. Nick Saban). Objective evaluation says Les has a lot of room for improvement, and records are no pass for getting better. 2008 was a disaster, and Les as Head Coach is solely responsible. 2009 barely averted disaster, and Les as Head Coach is responsible. Putting your head in the sand and trying to marginalize those with a different viewpoint by name-calling is not realistic, objective, or mature.

I would just like him to get rid of crowton and stud. Yes, lsu won in 07, but to me the o line and qb position has gotten worse.

Welcome to teh Interwebz.
These guys have a list of shallow arguments along the line of:
1) 51-14, stick head in sand.
2) Saban lost to UAB and ULM, stick head in sand.
3) Les makes more money than you, stick head in sand.
4) You're a negatiger, go root for so-and-so, stick head in sand.
It's like being in 2nd grade all over again.

why should Les quit...the negatiger have already done it for him. Les could win 'another natcham' for LSU...cure cancer...broker a lasting middle east peace...invent a engine that gets 350bhp and runs on tap water...send us all Angelina Jollie's cell number...and it wouldn't be enough for some of these mutts. may all Tigers, no matter what stripe, have a very Merry Christmas and a healthy and happy New Year.
LSU football...the cure for emotional stability.

A 3rd place finish in the SEC and a top 13 national ranking equates to you as "barely averted disaster"???

trying to marginalize
But it's ok to the "marginalize" the efforts of this LSU team which has warranted their playing in a major bowl on News Day vs. Penn St for a shot at Top 10 ranking???

Les Miles has not only matched Saban's performance at LSU, he has produced the highest overall talent level in LSU history.
Crowton has had to deal with a first year starter at QB for two years in a row. Crowton's biggest mistake with Lee was putting such an inexperienced QB in situations he was not ready for, and that mistake traumatized both Lee and Jefferson due to the freakish number of Pick-6s.
If the OL improves next year, I expect a big improvement at QB. I expect Jefferson will make a vast improvement, and Shepard will also get his chance at QB. If Jefferson doesn't show marked improvement, Lee or Garrett might surprise.
Bama has to replace 8 starters on defense plus a RT and LG on offense next year. We will see how Nicky handles all the changes on defense next year.
With all the great young talent Miles has brought in the past couple of years, LSU's football program is positioned for a great run for the next 3 or 4 years.
Time is on the side of Les Miles and all the great talent he has accumulated over the past three years. It is only a matter of time before the OL gels and one of our young QBs takes charge.

I had to read this a few times to make sure I got it right.
So, am I to believe that we just have to wait it out. Sometime in year 12, Les will realize that the clock stops after an interception? Perhaps, in year 13, he learns to stress fundamentals and execution?
Just wow!!
4 mill a year, and he's learning on the job?

quote:This is a rant myth. The coaches do play the best players. I do find it funny when message board cowboys bitch about the best players not being played based off what some player did in highschool. Tell me, who should Francois be starting over and what do you base that opinion on? How many LSU practices have you attended? What motivation would the LSU coaches have to not play the best players?
Then, play the best players, regardless of the rank. S. francois is one example of a guy I think of, dude has tremendous skills

sorry, but I have to disagree with this. Miles has recruited well, but our teams from 03-06 had hella talent. The 05 team had JR, buster davis, bowe, hester, doucet, dorsey, l. landry, tyson jackson, chevis jackson, and highsmith. that's just off the top of my head and that's a ton of NFL caliber talent that was getting significant playing time for LSU. I don't think you'll see that many of the starters from this year's team being drafted nearly as highly. Miles is a good recruiter, but Saban was just in a different league. I think the NFL drafts will prove it.

Miles can bounce back next year and we can be in the hunt for an NC next season. A big win over Penn St would be nice also!!
