How good is Dylan Crews’ .988 slug percentage???
Posted on 3/26/23 at 12:21 am to Sahen
It's 90 points higher than the single season school record.

He just improved his batting average of .500 significantly against the #5 team in the country.
I am impressed.

To put the slugging percentage in context for you:
A slugging percentage of 1.000 would equal one base attained per each at bat.
A slugging percentage of 2.000 would equal two bases attained per each at bat.
etc.
Since a player makes an out a good percentage of the time (a .300 hitter gets a hit in 3 of 10 at bats and makes 7 outs in the same 10 at bats) a slugging percentage of .988 is outstanding. A slugging percentage of .450+ in the major leagues means the player has had a great season batting with power.
An OPS (On Base Percentage + Slugging Percentage) of .988 is outstanding in professional baseball (across all levels). To have achieved that as a Slugging Percentage is other=worldly.

So how did you arrive at .988 for the slugging %. ?

The .988 was in the OP's question. I did not do any calculations.
If you are asking how to calculate Slugging Percentage see the link below:

It’s a really basic calculation. In 81 at bats, Crews has 80 total bases off of hits.
80/81 = .988 slugging percentage
10 doubles (20) + 9 HRs (36) + 24 singles (24) = 80 total bases

He hits the ball too hard to get a triple.
