Jurk is not Lawrence but it's safe to assume he would have looked a little better throwing and running behind ND's line than he looks throwing behind BC's line.
I agree he made the smart move but hindsight is 20/20. My point is that he may have to change his strategy from low risk/consistency to high risk/high reward at QB to win at LSU.
Dabo made a smart move. Maybe every coach makes the same move but I doubt it. Coaches typically play it safe and are loyal to experienced starters.

To win titles at LSU...just to be more clear.

Here's something about BK that I didn't mention before. Kelly rarely loses a game when he has the more talented team. Just look at ND's losses over the last four years - he lost two games when we had more talent, stanford in 2017 (they were actually good but less talented) and this year against Cincy (awful coaching job by ND and Ridder basically was the difference).
I know this sounds idiotic to a casual fan but that's just not the case with many coaches out there. That is the worst part about losing BK. He was probably never going to win a title at ND but we weren't going to lose games to an average opportunistic team.
He's going to have the most talented team 11 games a year or more with LSU.
Exactly what I thought. LSU gots a good one.

I'm not suggesting ND is some hotbed for recruiting and LSU is not. Quite the opposite. My point is that he will have to change his approach to recruit at LSU. I can land a god damn top 25 class at LSU. That's not enough. You need a top 3 every year with a #1 sprinkled into the mix every fourth year or so. That's nto a given anywhere in the country. My opinion is that he should recruit like a dog rather than sit back like a ceo (his approach at ND) to get it done.

Lol, you think Saban is the guy beating the recruiting trail at this point in his career?
He does as much or more than any coach in America

I wish we could. I doubt anyone would believe O would stay in his lane, though

Nobody thinks Saban is beating the pavement, but his “Buffers (Alabama has lot of Buffers) and Soldiers are out there doing the groundwork with lots of power and bags of money, then they meet The Godfather and he offers them “An Offer they can’t refuse” in Awe of the MAN they reply with a commitment.

I could be wrong regarding recruiting, but does a head coach need to go door to door anymore? Back in the day when most players were probably in state, yes. But now? I feel like the university itself recruits. That kids wants to go play for LSU, or Bama, or ND. I just don't understand everyone asking if he can recruit.

You're correct Heist. If I recall correctly, BK was very hands on during his initial years at ND. He will need to do the same at LSU. At least BK is an SME on one side of the ball.

Rumor was that it was a done deal he would be the next coach. Those were from good sources. That's not what it sounded like to me at the presser this morning. The presser this morning was a disaster and made BK look like a saint for dealing with their bullshite for so many years.
I was honestly shocked how bad that press conference went. It was just embarassing.
I honestly hope BK wins at LSU just to prove a point to ND. They have their head so far up their own asses sometimes it makes it hard to be a fan. The administration aside, I'm not a salty ND fan. I don't like the way this all happened but haven't lost sight on the fact that BK took ND out of football purgatory.
I have no clue if BK wins a title at LSU. I hope so unless it's against ND. At worst, he leaves your program in a better position than he found it and the next guy can win one. I know that's not enough at LSU but that's b/c you bastards are spoiled. Joking, kinda.
I am actually curious how BK will handle the expectations. ND has high expectations but it's different. ND was so bad for so long, just getting them back into a consistent top 10 team was a tall task. He could rely on ND's admissions standards as a credible excuse for not winning the big games and ND admin will not be dictated to by rabid fans so he knew he could keep his job by simply winning ten games from now until he retired.
Gonna be real different at lsu.

Sure but maybe this illustrates my point better.
You have a stud corner in FLorida who wants to play at LSU for obvious reasons. 5* sure bet type of kid. Are you going to let your secondary coach do all the heavy lifting while Napier is calling him and making house visits?
I'm not. You gotta get your arse up and secure that kid. That's the difference between winning a title or losing a very close and competitive game to georgia in sec title champtionship game.
ND has lost some guys to more hands on recruiting by a head coach from a different team. You don't have to play a huge role in all 100 offers out there but you should probably commit yourself to recruiting the top flight guys. Just my opinion.

No coach has been fired from LSU for winning 10 games. Miles was fired because he started consistently losing to the ole miss/Arkansas/etc. He wasn’t fired for losing to Bama. So if BK is like you say and doesn’t lose to inferior talent he will be just fine here even without an immediate championship.

Basically correct. BK played a big role in recruiting, got comfy and relied more on staff. shite went sideways and he did recommit himself to recruiting more over the last four years.
The 22 and 23 class provide some proof for that, but I think those rankings are more b/c of Freeman than anything else. If you guys can land him, huge blow to ND and huge gain for you. I'm not even crazy about his scheme...he's just a lunatic on the trail. Credit to him.

I think it's a combination money, and based on what I just witnessed during the ND presser, he correctly assessed this is his best shot to win a title.
Mostly the latter.
