I come in peace and will answer any questions you have about him as fairly as possible.

Positives:
BK is a program and culture builder.
He will adapt if needed.
He will try to find the best possible D coordinator and will copmletely hand the defense over to taht person. ND has had three great D coordinators in a row so I assume Kelly knows it's the key for LSU. Hopefully it's not Freeman.
He understands the importance of recruiting.

Negatives:
I do not like his style of running on offense. Slow developing and too much lateral movement. Even with a great offensive line, it makes it difficult to run against high quality defenses with speed.
He undertstands the importance of recruiting but he relies too heavily on staff. He's not saban out here hitting the pavement and making calls like a dog. That said, who the hell does outside of saban's crazy arse.
He's a little old so I'm not sure how much he has left in the tank. That said, he appears to be having more fun coaching now than he did five 6 or 7 years ago.

Lol, you think Saban is the guy beating the recruiting trail at this point in his career?

Thoughts on o line coach and wide receiver coach?

Del alexander didn't seem to impressive to me.

My understanding is that Saban and Urban are the two most demanding coaches with respect to recruiting and walk the walk more than most. BK prefers the CEO role and ND has lost a few elite recruits who implied Kelly was less active with their recruitment than XYZ coach.

Maybe Saban's role has lessened over the years. My point about BK still stands, though.

Maybe we get O next year strictly as the recruiting coordinator

Looking like a real shot of it being Freeman as our DC. Also hearing he is trying to bring Tommy Rees with him as the OC. Do y’all like Rees? But Rees is a former ND player and I don’t see him leaving. Hopefully he gets an OC that likes to spread it out and have a somewhat even playbook between run/pass.

knowing Woodward loves recruiting, I wonder if this was addressed.

Del Alexander has had issues recruiting this year and some concerns about development. LSU can and should do better. I wouldnt want him on ND staff so I see no reason why you guys would either.

Quinn is a tough one. He is a BK guy and most think Quinn got the job when harry heistand left the program b/c he was a bk guy and not bc of merit. ND's recent oline success was largely built on heistands ability to coach. Quinn is nowhere near the coach Heistand was but he does recruit. His issue is development. I don't know what options are out there but I would try to find someone else but he's not a bad option.

Basically, Quinn is serviceable b/c of his recruiting. Del shouldn't be allowed to set foot on campus.

Outside of Freeman, Elston is the best assistant you can poach from ND. He can coach the shite out of the dline and will have raw talent to work with.

Every kid on the team is obsessed with our strength guy balis. I dont think you'll get him b/c he's a local guy but his second in command is supposedly good and you should land him.

personally, I like Rees. He's a very smart kid but he's just that - a kid. I think Rees will be at LSU b/c he will get paid and he was allegedly the only guy to really know what was going on with LSU. It suggests kelly told him b/c he was going to take him. Yes, he's a ND guy but he's not getting the head coaching job here anytime soon, at least that's my guess, so I think he will leave for money and LSU gives him a great opportunity.

I'm not suggesting he's a mcvay or kingsberry but that's kinda the perception - young, smart offensive guru. That's the thing now in football so my guess is he makes the move that puts him in a position to get a big HC job. LSU fits the bill.

Yes to some extent. The level of dysfunction I'm currently witnessing from our AD is far more shocking. I have no hard feelings about it and hope he kills it for you guys unless you are playing ND. I think it's a combination money, and based on what I just witnessed during the ND presser, he correctly assessed this is his best shot to win a title.

What is surprising is that he is on a great run and if you look at the ND recruiting classes for 22 and 23, he was on the verge of fielding his most talented team ever.

Regarding LSU being easier to recruit: It is easier overall. However, this is something that is difficult for an LSU fan to understand and that's not a slight to lsu fans. ND attracts a lot of players for the exact same reason we cannot get some other players. Kelly can lock up some really great recruits that simply want to play at a place like ND over a place like LSU. That makes it easier to secure kids. ND is an easy sale to them and he's not wasting time trying to get some kid that will never get into ND or fit at the school. He's going to have to battle it out for kids at LSU. I think he will recruit fine and it's easier at LSU but it's not as simple as it seems on the surface.

Flying under the radar but I think a big reason kelly left ND is the transfer portal is a one way street at ND. ND only has access to grad transfers b/c it's nearly impossible to get a kid to qualify as a tranfer. Can't take JUCOs either. That makes it really hard to plug a roster hole if someone transfers or leaves early for the NFL.

I love elston. Like rees and think he will be fine.

Don't like alexander the wide receiver coach. Sounds like kelly is bringing him.

Don't love the o line coach either.

Most ND fans could care less if Rees leaves. They get frustrated with him very easily and smoe of it is fair but some of it is ridiculous. Jury still out on him. If I'm LSU, I would prefer a sure bet as an O coordinator but it will not surprise me a bit if he kills it for you.

I think you are basically correct on your assessment. Quinn could be a great recruiter for you but you can put him with tight ends and hire someone else to develop the line.

I will give him this much credit. The oline was in a rebuild this year and looked absolutely atrocious for the first five weeks. We are currently playing the 4th string left tackle who is a true freshman and they did a great job throughout the season to fix the problem. Question is, were they starting the wrong players to begin with or did they just do a great job getting the young guys ready to play over the first month of the season.

Either way, I was impressed by how well they patched the line up this year given all the injuries and inexperience.

1. Can he recruit and develop quarterbacks?
2. Can he adapt his offense to SEC style defenses?
3. Can he survive 110 degree heat index practice?
4. Can he hire top-tier coordinators and assistants?
