Here are the top 5 players in sacks so far:
1. Princewill Umanmielen - LSU - 8.0
2. Colin Simmons - Texas - 7.5
3. Myles Bradley - Bowling Green - 6.5
t4. Daeden Hopkins - Mizzou - 6.0
t4. Xavier Lewis - UNC - 6.0
No LSU player has ever led the nation in sacks so that'd be fun.
LSU single season record is Arden Key's 12.0 in 2016.
If he keeps the pace up, Princewill could find himself on the all-time SEC leaderboards
Top 5 unofficial sack leaders in SEC history:
1. 1988 Derrick Thomas - Alabama - 27.0 sacks
2. 2021 Will Anderson Jr. - Alabama - 17.5 sacks
3. 1987 Derrick Thomas - Alabama - 17.0 sacks
t4. 1989 Craig Ogletree - Auburn - 14.0 sacks
t4. 1992 Todd Kelly - Tennessee - 14.0 sacks
Top 5 official sack leaders in SEC history:
1. 2021 Will Anderson Jr. - Alabama - 17.5 sacks
2. 2012 Jarvis Jones - Georgia - 14.5 sacks
3. 2002 David Pollack - Georgia - 14.0 sacks
t4. 2012 Jadaveon Clowney - USCe - 13.0 sacks
t4. 2011 Melvin Ingram - USCe - 13.0 sacks
On pace for 19.2 sacks in 12 games right now. Even if his pace cuts in half, he would still be on pace for 13.6 sacks.

Bama counts sacks like they do national titles.
There is official, then there is the Bama count.

We are going to have a player set the all-time single season LSU sack record and a player set the all-time single season LSU sack record for a defensive tackle in the same season.

Simmons had 5 sacks in one game, which is obviously insane, but only 2.5 sacks in the rest. Prince has been much more consistent and methodical with it. It helps when you got a guy like Deuce that can create pressure up the middle by himself so either you try to keep the middle clean or you keep the edge clean, not many teams are equipped to do both at the same time all game.
That LSU/Texas game this year is going to be a lot of fun. I can see that being another 2011 9-6 type of game. I feel like Sam and Arch are basically the same type of QBs too. Texas hasn't played in BR since the 50s, I think there are going to be a lot of visiting fans for that game so it'll be an epic pregame environment and the game itself should be entertaining as well as we're both kind of the same team.

Damn this is so hard to believe considering all the talent we've had over the years
