NCAA basketball tournament

Between 1979 and 2015, we made it to the big Dance 19 times. Some of our teams had great talent and some teams were just scrappers. Can’t figure out why the team with the great Ben Simmons couldn’t make it.

How much better is that team with Waters running the point instead of Quarterman?
Quarterman had some great moments at LSU but he was a head case that couldn’t handle the Ben Simmons attention.

The Ben Simmons team didn't make the tournament because of 3 things:
1 Johnny Jones
2 Injury to Hornsby early in the season
3 No post depth. We had Victor and Simmons then a drop off to Darcy Malone.

If you watched, Ben thought he was above the team. He practiced with his own coaches, he did whatever he wanted when he wanted. Quarterman got feed up with it and basically said no player was above the team and that’s why the two fought on and off the court. And JJ was a weak coach and lost the team because of Ben and his attitude and got fired.

Simmons was selfish, he couldn't shoot an outsider jumper to save his life or want to play defense. Johnny Jones also had no idea how to coach much less coach a superstar

Johnny Jones was BAD at best, and Ben well all I can say is there is no I in team, and last I checked Basketball is a team sport.

Great person. Loved LSU. But all of that could not make up for his coaching deficiencies.
and to top it off he lost control of his team when egos collided between players.
