Everything you enjoyed about College Football is about to go away IMO
Not everything we enjoy is going to go away.
However, there will be significant change.
In particular, rules intended to protect smaller schools and conferences will likely be eliminated. Expect players to be paid. Expect less rules on recruiting. Expect football budgets to explode.

Who do you think is going to be paying for these extra stipends and things of that nature. You the season ticket holder. It might be $2000 next year but what's it going to be 10 years from now - $10,000 extra. Who is going to foot the bill?

Will this allow us to get more baseball scholarships? The limit now is criminal.
It certainly won't hurt.

This is a terrible idea and it will destroy the game.
Greed ends up destroying everyone it touches.
The Big 5 are being greedy. It will backfire.

I could not agree more
This simply means he who spends the most can buy victory.
At least now its out in the open. Perhaps now other CFB fans will quit watching and real change can happen.
Until everything is a level playing field AND its all settled on the field .......Its all BS

The rules that will be passed will not benefit just a few schools. Only rules that benefit a majority will be passed.
More specifically, I believe that any rule change will tend to benefit the schools with deeper pockets. LSU will be one of those schools.

here's the thing:
college football has never been more profitable than it is right now. it is the third most popular sport, behind only the NFL and MLB, although CFB and MLB were equally popular between 2010 and 2011. why would anyone in their right mind make such a significant change to the governing structure of the sport at a time when it is at its peak? incremental changes would have been more wise. removing limits from aspects of recruiting and team staff, etc., will create a very few haves versus an overwhelming majority of have-nots.

this will give them the power to do whatever they want, and the other conferences just want the money

this is purely hypothetical, but what if the other conferences decided that they would no longer play the SEC? what if we became so bloated, that we became a 14 team league that only played itself? don't get me wrong, i always want to play an SEC schedule, but i love the OOC and bowl games. it would be terrible to lose them.
that doesn't even touch on the fact that now, with the likelihood of player stipends happening sooner than later, we're going to see a college player's union come into existence and there's no way to know what the final shape of these fundamental changes to the system will be.

i'm definitely not having one, but the whole reason i prefer CFB over the NFL is because of its parity. while there certainly are advantages that bigger and wealthier schools already have over the smaller programs in the current system, having the big 5 conferences "police" themselves diminishes the parity that i love about CFB. that's what i object to.

Rule changes suggestions can be submitted for consideration. This process will still allow NCAA to keep it somewhat legit. The main reason this came to be is "The Stipend" . This will be the biggest change and it will heavily favor the big budget schools.
