The NCAA Division I board of directors on Thursday voted to allow the 65 schools in the top five conferences to write many of their own rules. The autonomy measures -- which the power conferences had all but demanded -- will permit those leagues to decide on things such as cost-of-attendance stipends and insurance benefits for players, staff sizes, recruiting rules and mandatory hours spent on individual sports.

Will this allow us to get more baseball scholarships? The limit now is criminal.

Good for the Power 5, not good for smaller conferences.
The Power 5 will but some distance between them and the rest of the conferences.

not well versed in the whole "autonomy for the Power 5" argument, so please explain what you mean.

As it should be. They should become a separate division and only play each other IMO.

and now the schools with the most money will rule...it's dumb

This is for football no doubt
College sports is so far off the track of what it was initially set up to be, I really do fear what this model will create in the next 10/20 years.
They just better remember the fans that support them because SEC games on ESPN SEC Network in half empty stadiums will not be good for the sport.

Doesn't look like it...

Areas that will not fall under the autonomy umbrella include postseason tournaments, transfer policies, scholarship limits, signing day and rules governing on-field play.

Exactly. Look, ULM and ULL are never going to really compete for the National Championship. The Power 5 should separate from the bottom feeders. This doesn't destroy college football.
