He don't have to be ready. But he does have to be ready to invest all that money he will be making so his future is intact. Remember, the NBA drafts on potential.

He believes he's ready. I do not. But my belief is irrelevant. There is no next season in college basketball. Just the other day a buddy of mine was texting about "next year." I'm like, man, get that out of your mind. You want Elite 8, Final 4, maybe better, focus on 2019 the time is now! Forget next year. It could be better or worse who knows. We want the glory we grab the bull by the horns NOW. And that's just how this club is going about it.

I bet he goes top 20...could sneak into lottery if he keeps improving and LSU makes a run in March.

I'll chime here too...

I agree with previous posts that NBA drafts on potential. That player will have a full time job to become a better basketball player. And getting paid straight dollar bills as well.

I tend to side on player (workers) over franchises (owners) even though I ran my own business for 10+ years.

That said, there are legitimate times as a worker to leverage your value. That would include showcasing talent an extra season in this case.

Everyone understands one more year would help...but that’s not how the NBA works.
They draft off potential in these cases. The upside for Naz appears high—very high.

They broke up a month ago

He was dating a player on the WBB team. She wound up quitting the team and leaving school a few days after the breakup

Yep, NBA is all about potential.

I'm going to respectfully disagree with that assessment.

Baseball is a sport that is about potential and the ability to improve in lower class ball until fully developed. That is why there are so many draft rounds in baseball.

NBA teams get a limited number of draft picks and they expect those drafted to contribute right away. There are notable exceptions to that rule but it is by and large the way the NBA works.

Whether he is ready, as in ready to play right away in the NBA, probably not but the reality is NBA teams would rather do the developing than counting on the college team to develop a player. He gone after this year, but he is becoming the player we hoped he would and that is a good thing for us.

There are several mock drafts that have him higher than that.
