Team beats McNeese, goes 1-2 at Georgia (Skenes’s start) and 1-2 in the SEC tourney (Skenes’s start) to finish 42-16 with an RPI between 5-10. Are they a Top 8 national seed or not? (Upvote yes, downvote no)

No. We are going cold at the absolute worst time.

I think we are a lock regardless. You don’t just go
From unanimous # 1 overall for 13 weeks to out of the top 8 because of 2 bad weekends.

No way of knowing. It would be boarderline and probably depend a lot on how other teams finish as well.

IMO they need 2 out of 3 this week and they'll lock it up regardless of Hoover

Magic number is 2 (SEC wins), imo. So yes from me.

When you finish the season going 4-8 against conference opponents, you absolutely can drop that much. That would be 4 bad weekends to end the year.

Actually it would be 4 straight bad weekends to close out the season if Georgia series and SECt go as shitty as the last two. Can absolutely happen.

A little depends on the rest of the SEC who will get 4.

The hope is Arkansas takes care of Vandy. Florida takes care of Kentucky. If those happen LSU becomes the defacto #3 and in a good spot.

The SEC tournament means almost nothing with respect yo national seeds.

LSU would be 5-8 in RPI with that finish. I think that makes a difference in the consideration of your scenario.

In the scenario you are describing I think LSU would be the #8 seed

FTR, would be 4 bad weekends by that point.
ETA: as others have pointed out.

We still have Georgia left to play so that may be 3 weekend series losses to end the season. If we are 1 and done in the SEC tournament we may not be a top 8 seed. Who knows but regardless this team is toast unless Skenes pitches. All we really need is Floyd to stay consistent and get 2-3 pitchers step up to get out of a super. I just don’t think we have it with the current bull pen and defense. If we win 2 at Georgia and one in the SEC tourn I would say we are a national seed.

Should still be Top 4 in SEC tourney, which means at least two games.

Only if two teams sweep and we get swept can pass us. Kentucky who plays Florida and USCe who plays Tennessee.
