What is the deal with making this a fit, culturally, like it’s supposed to be an arranged marriage? Other than coach O, who has been a “cultural” fit? Michigan based Miles, with an ARE-Kansas accent? Or Saban who gained his early experiences in the Midwest? I don’t understand the sudden disdain for LSU and BK because we don’t have a, stereotypical, waterboy identity in the coaching box. Also, to the national media…. LSU is a better coaching job than ND.

LSU'S cultural fit has been "winning" since 2000.

We don't care if the coach is Russian and can't speak English if he can win 10+ games and national championships every year.

It's obvious that they have nothing else negative to say about the hire.

I'd like to see them apply this "cultural fit" thing not to other coaches, but other professions...

C'mon ESPN, do "cultural fit" for the following:
- strawberry pickers
- drug dealers
- looters and professional activists
- militia leaders
- and *drum roll please*... Journalists

We've won national titles with coaches from West Virginia and Ohio, it's really not a big deal.

Exactly. We just want to win, and win the games we are supposed to. LSU’s game days have died over the last 2 years. I want that environment back. I want to walk on campus and know that we can compete and beat every team coming in.

They also assumed lsu fans really loved coach o's "louisiana" persona and are only accepting of someone like that. Many of us have been clamoring for a real football coach for years, but the national media doesn't get that. It's kind of insulting honestly. They think we won't accept a cerebral coach, just a loud mouth who knows how to boil crawfish

Mob mentality...the same one that made us think Lincoln Riley would be a great fit here. It's just an easy, lazy way to say they think we are stupid and you have to "be one of us" to get it down here. It is different, but the one thing that ain't different anywhere...winning!

Right. They can't comprehend why we would want a coach that can actually coach and game plan instead of some cajun guy who eats gumbo. Such a lazy viewpoint on the media's end.

people want to pick holes in everything. I have never seen a coach leave gracefully.
its LSU against the world they know Kelly is a great coach and they cant stand it so they say its not a cultural fit. That is the biggest bunch of BS ever, no one is a cultural fit thats also a good coach. Riley is a cultural fit in USC? and the Notre Dame new coach is a cultural fit?? recruiting 98% white players with 4.0 GPA oh wait thats racist so lets not talk about cultural fit.

We are the SEC's drunk uncle, we're supposed to hire guys like O. He got lucky and won a championship? Great, lots of media fodder. They don't expect us to hire a "normal" coach, especially not poaching him from a program like Notre Dame.

Tired of this cultural fit concept. Kelly is not organizing Tiger tailgates. He's here to build a championship program. That's it. Embracing the Louisiana culture and her people will be important, but it doesn't have to be a "fit". I think he's genuinely excited to be part of LSU and I think he's going to win here. He wants to build a championship program. We want a professional leader who can build championship programs. How much more of a fit do you need than that?

Sports broadcasters and pundits never miss an opportunity to mispronounce “Batawn Roooooge” and “New Orleeeeens” every chance they get. They are mostly all full of shite and seem to imply LSU and Louisiana are some outcast culture who are unaccepting of outsiders. What a joke. Who gives a shite what they have to say…

Our culture is about winning now. Kelly will do his “speaking” on the field.

Winning is how you shut them up. Media crucified Saban when he went to Alabama after lying to them.

This is the past that confuses me. In general, Louisiana and Cajun culture is way more accepting of everyone than most others. I’m not sure why they’ve latched onto this shite. He’s a football coach….. not the new ambassador for Cajun culture.
