Well this is being written two days earlier than I intended, but we have finally seen the Tigers lose a game on the road. Here are my observations:

1. Kudos to the Bengal Brass Band, which harassed the hell out of Florida free throw shooters for the first half, when the Gators were shooting at the band’s end of the court. God knows they had enough opportunities to harass, since Florida got to attempt 387 more free throws than us.
2. Naz made some mistakes, but played really hard.
3, There were times in the first half when it looked like we could match up with Golden State, and there were times in the second half when it looked like my seniors men’s rec team could give LSU a good game. Very frustrating.
4. I spoke to an older Kentucky fan at halftime (a nice man), who asked me, “tell me, is your great young coach going to survive this?’ I told him I didn’t know, but I was still living with the hope that somehow things would turn out OK. He said, “ well I don’t know if he’ll survive, that’s still in doubt. But one thing that isn’t in doubt is that your athletic director is an idiot.”
5. I got next to the tunnel right after the game to give encouragement to the Tigers. You could tell they took the loss really hard. Naz was the only one who looked up to fist bump. All the others just kept their heads down.
6. Tony’s tech was 10 minutes too late. He should have lit into the officials and hopefully have gotten his team out of their lack of focus in the second half. Please don’t do it coach when there’s almost no time to recover from a 6 or 7 point play.
7. Something was wrong with Tre in the second half. He looked listless, and once when he came out the trainer went over to him and questioned him for what seemed a really unusually long time.
8. There was a nice presentation at halftime with Mr. and Mrs. Sims. Also, there was a presentation before the game honoring Skylar as the SEC scholar athlete award recipient, plus honoring the team as a whole as SEC champs.
9. I usually now post the funniest thing on the road trip, but I’m not feeling overly comical right now.
10. Despite all the chaos, stick behind these kids. They are winners. We hope to be able to travel to the real tournament that is about to start, and I’d love to see a 6 game winning streak to finish the season in style.(Edited after feedback about total wins needed to run the table- thanks.),

Tre hit the court hard and the broadcast team said he looked woozy.

Would suck if he has another concussion.

Great report!
I’m here too.

There’s 2 things I’d add from my experience here:
1. When I came through the security upon entering the arena, the security guard checking me in said
“oh, an LSU TIger, I’m not letting you in”. It was supposed to be a joke I guess, but it was completely unnecessary and unprofessional from a security person.

The man then made matters even worse and upset me, he saw I has a poster saying “#44 Forever. Sims”. He said “You can’t take that in either, I don’t care about Sims”.
I took the poster in anyway and told him I couldn’t believe he was such a jerk.
I wanted to say more, but I didn’t want to get thrown out. My husband went through a different gate - we'd have got thrown out for sure if he was with me

2. t I hate the obnoxious Kentucky fans who swarmed on us immediately after the game (we hadn’t even left our seats yet) to ask if we wanted to sell our other tickets. They were everywhere and not polite about it at all. Their smugness is sickening.. one guy continued to badger our group. In the end I had to stand up and yell “GO AWAY!”
I know a lot of you here would’ve been less polite.

We’ve seen many nice, friendly Kentucky fans here, but ......

One other observation that I forgot to list:

11. People that wear Kentucky colors get up out of their seats to go to the bathroom a minimum of four times per game.

Why you didn’t send your wife to the bathroom in the second half? lol

I’m already taking flack from my family for not doing so!! I guess we underestimated her power to sway the game.

It looked like SEC Commish Sankey spent as short an amount of time as possible giving our team the SEC regular season trophy. Is that true.?

On TV they'd show him with an awkward grin, clapping in rhythm after his 2nd and 3rd phantom fouls. I thought he was just in awe of the calls but he was clearly spaced out.

I was pretty inebriated by the time they started cutting down the nets.

Hopefully someone else can answer. I don't remember it.

_______________________

It was pretty quick-pretty much just an announcement and a quick team picture at mid court. I have nothing to compare it to, as this is the first time I’ve been at the tournament at the time of the announcement of the regular season champions. They actually spent more time making the presentation to Wayde Sims’ parents, and I’d bet my last dollar that every one of our kids, if given the choice, would gladly forfeit the championship if they could have Wayde back.

One other observation that I forgot to mention:

I was struck by how knowledgeable all of the other SEC school fans were of each of our players. We were surrounded by Tennessee, Ky, Florida, etc. For the most part, all of them were well mannered, and we had an ongoing conversation during breaks in the game. What really made an impression was how specific their knowledge was as to each of our players. Examples:

If y’all would’ve had Bigby Williams last year, you’d have won at least 4 or 5 more games.

That Taylor guy is going to hit his head on the rim.

Reid seems to be feast or famine a lot of the time.

You guys have lots of good players, but I think Mays is your glue.

I'd prefer a 6-game streak.

Get used to it. The decline has initiated already. No way this guy should even be seriously considered for the job if WW doesn't make it back. (Everybody read the story in the Link)
