You are getting downvoted like crazy, but you are right. There is a distinct chance that he was playing himself into the first round.

Myles will be the starter as soon as he is healthy, whether it is this year or next. He has waited too damn long to leave, and he has balled out.

He is more likely to grad transfer out than get drafted at this point. If he has a “significant” injury now and misses multiple games, those talented freshmen are only going to get better. Plus, there are others coming in. He may Want to find another place to go

Myles is liable to stay all years of his eligibility. Dude probably loves LSU that much.

What if Johnson or Finley ball out and throw 4 tds a game and 400 yds a game? For the remainder of this season?

The coaches would have atough decision to make and I wouldn't blame them to go eith the younger qb. Also wouldn't blame them to go with Myles but its something to think about. Especially if the younger qb is more mobile than Myles.

Wait. After week 1 everyone wanted to bench him, now after 2 more games, against Vandy and Mizzou, he is a 1st round pick?

He was putting up Burrow-level numbers through the first three games.

Let the record reflect that our “fans” are already saying our starting QB should transfer, without ever having seen either of his backups play a down of college football.

He wasn’t getting drafted next year even if he declared!

I think you're wrong.

He's got serious arm talent, can make every throw, and has shown a willingness to grind and do the little things to get better. He was having a huge season, even if it's against weaker SEC teams (remember, we ain't playing OOC games). Most of the holes in his game can be fixed with experience.
I think he could be a Stafford clone, which plenty of NFL teams would take in a heartbeat.

That said, I figure if he's not projecting 1st rd, he will come back for his remaining season(s). His family has money, and he wants to be at LSU. He didn't transfer when Burrow took his spot.

Myles Brennan might have been drafted without the injury, but it wouldn't have been high enough for him to surpass coming back to LSU for his senior year. Also, one season of football, especially in a fricked up season like this where the offenses seem to have the advantage on defenses even moreso than the game naturally provides, isn't enough for Brennan to get a very high draft grade for nfl front offices that are scouting him. This is a pretty solid qb class coming out too. Hell, I can name at least 4 qbs just in the sec that would get drafted higher than Brennan. Trask and mac jones for sure, then mond and franks, even though they both have their moments and look bad at times, they will still both be drafted higher than Brennan. Then you have trevor lawrence, justin fields, jamie newman, ehlinger, brock puffy, etc...this is a deep qb class and Brennan wouldn't get drafted high I promise u that. He would have been back regardless of if he got injured or not.

Depending on how max johnson performs, I believe the biggest question about Brennan is whether or not he will transfer out and play his senior season somewhere else.

I agree with your overall sentiment - that Myles would likely gain a lot by playing another year regardless of his injury. But Jamie Newman has also only played one year as a starter - in the ACC, no less - and isn’t playing at all this year. Mac Jones is basically in the same boat as Brennan, plus a few games after Tua was hurt last year. Also, I don’t know that the gap between Brennan and Jones is as big as you’re suggesting... I imagine Myles would look pretty damned good with Bama’s OL, throwing to Smith and Waddle, with an experienced NFL-ready RB in the backfield.

Further, I don’t think it’s unreasonable to think Brennan could have played his way into a spot ahead of at least a handful of the guys you mentioned. Mond? Franks? I don’t buy that either of those guys are better than Brennan.

He would have to look pretty damned good for Brennan to get permanently benched. Can we at least see the kid play a down or two of college ball before we start predicting transfers?

I never said he “was” transferring but looking at similar situations at other schools and QBs, the older QB who has been around a while has moved on. I like Brennan but if he misses multiple games and the freshman are as good as advertised (a qualifier I used), then he may (another qualifier I used) look to transfer.

agree, but i dont see him staying past next season... 6 years in college is a long time... if he has a good year next year (like he started this year) i could see him as a 3-5rd pick after next season...

Oh, is this the part where we just make up stuff that we both said? Because I never indicated that you said he “was” transferring, and your post wasn’t nearly as pragmatic as you seem to think it was:
quote:

if he misses multiple games and the freshman are as good as advertised (a qualifier I used)

You didn’t qualify anything about the freshmen being “as good as advertised.” In fact, you simply concluded that “those talented freshmen are only going to get better” as if it were a foregone conclusion that he will be passed up in the depth chart.
quote:

then he may (another qualifier I used) look to transfer.

Yeah, I must have taken “he is more likely to grad transfer out than get drafted” and “he may want to find another place to go” way out of context. Amirite?
quote:

I like Brennan

Clearly.

Irony.

He wasn't leaving, BUT if he is out for the season, we get TWO more years of him hopefully.

He may get an extra year if he cannot come back soon. Looking long term, not sure if good or bad. Will probably lose one of our freshmen to a transfer. They may stay for two, but three?
