He'll be given another chance after some significant roster turnover. They've identified the problem as a talent issue.

Just throwing my prediction out there.

He absolutely has to be. It’s not like Mickey Loomis is the GM of LSU where complacency overpowers results.

coaching and talent are both subpar. which is how you get the current product LSU has.

I disagree that it's a talent problem.
We've watched the defense be clueless in 4 games and the staff make 0 halftime adjustments.
We could've blitzed Alabama EVERY down and likely won that game.

The freshman talent will shock people next year as sophomores with the right coaches.

I unfortunately think this is spot on.

Kelly has continuously preached that the talent isn't there. Add in the fact that you know he'll get rid of some position coaches and use that for "shaking things up".

I obviously want House gone like the rest of you, but I really think Kelly spins this in a way to where he gets another year.

There’s definitely a talent issue. No coordinator would have been successful.

The question is whether the performance was even below the talent level. You can make a decent argument that as low as the bar was due to talent, they still underperformed.

OK.

So where are all these great defensive players gonna come from? Who's gonna recruit them here?

I think the difference is last year they basically hit 100% success rate in the transfer portal while this year was a 10% rate at best.

Not the case. He is gone at the end of the year or the Monday following the bowl game whenever that is.

House has to be gone. You had to bring in an 80yr old guy to tell him he didn't have the personnel on the DL to run what he was trying to run. We also watched House not try ANYTHING in the Bama game to stop what they were doing. Nothing. There were times we didn't have a player within 20yds of the LOS allowing Milroe to rip off 20yd runs.

If anything, Kelly needs to inject some energy and enthusiasm into the defensive side of the ball. He needs to bring in someone who can run a TRUE multiple defense depending on personnel.

So, talent level.

Last year they basically added 2 CBs and a very good DT.

This year they whiffed on 3 CBs and 2 DEs while they lost the 2 CBs mentioned above and lost a starting DT and 2 starting DEs.

No matter the source, we were a decent (not great) defense last year...and we are losing talent at a greater rate that we are filling it.

The bad news is we are losing our best defensive player (minus Perkins) this year.

The forecast on the defensive side of the ball isn't good.

Not firing House would be a really bad decision on Kelly’s part. Talent is an issue, but the decision makers aren’t doing anything to even TRY to put people in position to be successful.
