This is such a damn shame. I'm on the Rant a lot and because of my love for all things LSU basketball I recognize every name in this thread. Lots of truly passionate people about our basketball team that have been reduced to lethargy. If the LSU administration is reading this PAY ATTENTION! This group of people are representative of a much larger group of LSU basketball fans that aren't at the PMAC like they almost always are every year. You are LOSING MONEY.

This is the only language that matters to these people.

He has had good reviews long before he came back to LSU. Why are there all of the preemptive strikes on him?

I don't think he is ready to take over LSU yet, but he can handle the reigns for a partial season and should stay on the staff under a solid head coach.

I'm less interested in the team now that I was during the 2 and 3 win SEC years of Trent Johnson.

Who knew that the best quality a lsu candidate can have is really wanting to be lsu's coach and a proper south La accent.

My first memories of LSU basketball were when Press Maravich was the head coach. I, too want every LSU team to win. I have no sources inside the program, so Victor being kicked off the team was a surprise. I doubt that CJJ would have done this if there were a choice. The program is in worse shape.

I stopped watching. I am normally not negative, but this team is going no place.

Until we change coaches, we're in for a rough ride.

I don't like Brady, but I will admit it was by far the most exciting.

With the exception of 2000 & 2006, Brady's teams pretty consistently scored in the 50s and 60s and had a conference record of .500 or well below. We are terrible now, but saying Brady's teams were exciting is just ridiculous. He had plenty of teams every bit as bad as this one.

I have not been to an LSU home game yet this year.

It is by far the farthest I've gone into a season without going to one since the early 70's.....FACT!

It is the least interested and engaged I've ever been.

For me it's simple, I watched a team quit last year and I saw several games where it was obvious from the body language and the result on the court that the lack of effort and interest of the players was widespread.

And the coach that IMHO allowed this environment to slowly grow and fester is back. With a lot of the same players who would not play for him last year.

I just can't summon excitement for that. I know he's a nice guy. Maybe we could go out for a beer sometime. But he's really going to have to earn it to change my mind about what I've watched evolve the last 4 plus years. I can't see him pulling that rabbit out of the hat. I would love to be wrong but let's be honest....I'm probably not on this one.

A) Where exactly were these good reviews? Let's call a spade a spade, the guy was a D-league reject and has been out of coaching for 3 years all while publicly stating that he wanted to get back into coaching during those three seasons.

B) Why the preemptive strikes? Because I care about LSU basketball and want to see the program succeed. I don't want to see us hire another local guy just because he talks like us. We are here today because Johnny "loves the program so much" and "it's his dream job." So yes, I'm going to be critical and take preemptive strikes so that our numb nuts of an athletic director doesn't get lazy and look to some grassroots campaign for some local hack instead of actually doing the damn job he is being paid handsomely to do.

Trent inherited a veteran group including a couple of key players that were injured from Brady's last season.

Agreed, I will never agree with someone that says Trent was a good coach. No, he really wasn't. The only reason he won squat in the sec was because of marcus, taz, Garrett and Johnson. As soon as they graduated, we were losing to in state directional schools, getting blown out by poor teams routinely. Trent completely bombed at TCU. If you look at Stanford before he arrived, you'd see he completely underacheived. He rode the Lopez bros to the sweet 16 much the same way he rode Marcus to an sec title. Then he brought in his guys - ludwig, derenbecker, Dotson, etc. On our way to 2 & 3 win seasons in a shite league. Trent was bad and Johnny is a better coach than him. And that is pretty bad.

I hear you brother. It is tough to be an LSU basketball fan. There have been high spots for me to be sure but disappointment is always waiting around the corner. I haven't been able to see a live game for a long time but it is depressing watching on tv also. I have gotten to where I will record the game for a half hour or so before I start watching so I can fast forward if it gets too bad and too painful.

If the football team's decline can be traced to the 2011 Title game against Alabama then probably for me the basketball team started it's decline when the great Jackson/Shaq/Roberts/Sims/Williamson etc. team didn't perform up to expectations and Chris went pro.

I guess my favorite teams have been the ones that had no huge stars but overachieved. You know, Rickey Blanton at center. Still too early to write this team off but it would take one of the biggest turnarounds ever. The spirit just isn't there and CJJ has seemingly lost the team's respect. I don't want an interim coach but the AD better be looking hard to find someone/anyone who can turn this mess around.

I usually don't agree with much of the "feelings" exposed by TigerRant, but I literally agree with everything you say considering I'm a diehard LSU basketball fan (unfortunately).

I follow LSU football, basketball, and baseball at equal levels...(big fans of all)...and its funny how much worse Johnny Jones is than what Les Miles was if we compare them to th median of how they should be at their respectable sport.

But god damn.... Johnny Jones is awful. He actually has a lot of talent on his team too. I played basketball in High School and never coached a day in my life and I can see the obvious mistakes he makes.

Johnny doesnt have a fricking clue
