umm there were updates all the time until the family filed the Lawsuit once that happened BK cant reach out. LSU lawyers wont let anyone in the program contact the family.
again wtf you want them to do?
I’m just stating facts. I have nothing to do with the situation.

I cant hate but feel that this is all a money grab by the family. I hate I feel that way, but it just looks like that to me and I could be completely wrong. I feel for the kid and I pray for him to recover and live a normal life. No one deserves to go through this. A close family friend lost her life to this cancer at 19 years old. She was one of the top female dirt bike racers in the country, about to start college and race professionally. One day she started having similar symptoms and fought for three years and finally lost the good fight.

Did you watch the segment?
He literally called out BK and LSU for basically ghosting his son during his recovery.
I did. But what could CBK do? He has many many other kids to attend to on a daily basis. There is only so much time during the day. I'm sure if Greg and his family reached out to CBK he would have spoken with them.
Maybe it's simply a miscommunication in terms of CBK being busy. I don't believe there is any malicious intent on CBK's part.
In fact I know there is no malicious intent. I recall CBK publicly praising and wishing Greg a fast recovery a couple of times.

Is it too much just to send a text and say “hey man, we’re thinking about you. Hang in there.”?
I don’t think they bear any responsibility for anything else but it’s ok to be a human and reach out in a way that doesn’t open you up in a lawsuit.
Perhaps I’m wrong but as a leader of men that feels like something you should do.

of course he did...the family is trying to find a way to support their son the rest of his life...i get it but doesnt mean its the right thing and sure as frick doesnt mean BK is to blame
he wasnt to blame with any of the diagnosis or return to play and he certainly isnt to blame for not contacting the kid or family after they filed a lawsuit.
wtf you want BK to do?

yes because the LSU lawyers issued a no contact and no comment order to the staff. this all came out in the first thread on this

Unfortunately these are the consequences of the litigious society in which we live.

thank you
and its not like BK spent 5 years with the kid, he spent 1. it all happened in the middle of football season, people would be pissed if he said he went and spent time with the kid and we lost that week.
not to mention the lawyers issuing no contact and no comment orders that were talked about in the last thread on this

It’s a national television segment and the father of a former player mentions BK by name stating he didn’t reach out to his son to even offer words of encouragement.

of course but a bunch of people want to jump on here and paint BK as some terrible person despite him wishing GB a full recovery and saying they were praying for him.
they do it because it fits an agenda which is fine but have some balls to call a spade a spade too.

yea because anyone with a functioning brain can see its a money grab by the family and trying to paint everyone in the worst light possible.
but i guess the functioning brain is too much for most of the fan base considering the collective IQ is prolly around 90.

Prayers to GB3 and his family

It sounds like Kelly visited Greg at the hospital and that the family was grateful for the support at the time:
I'm glad Greg is cancer free now. I hope his recovery continues to progress. I don't think the LSU staff did anything wrong, especially not maliciously. If anything, Greg probably received swift care due to his involvement with LSU.
quote:
"We are grateful for the work and care of the medical staff helping Greg through these challenges and for the concern and love poured out by so many in the Louisiana, Arkansas and national sports communities," the family said. "This means the world to us at this difficult time.
quote:
Kelly has said that Brooks told him he was insistent about playing again this year. Kelly said he saw Brooks on Monday during a "heavy rehab" day and that Brooks was able to make eye contact and recognize him.
"He was up on his feet and moving around," Kelly said. "But still, there's a long journey for him."

Unfortunately, it is the only way that a lawyer is going to have you behave once the suit is filed.
If the coaches and BK never once spoke with the family after the initial diagnosis but before the lawsuit, that is a bad look (and I don't know that one way or the other).

I know BK mentioned being in contact with the family, I don't know if that means a secretary, coach, administrative staffer, or someone like that or BK himself. I would have hoped the coach would have reached out. I assume teammates have. But not being in the mix, I have no idea what was or wasn't done or why.
Whatever the case, I understand Greg and his family suing to try to make sure Greg is taken care of going forward. I do not know how much merit the case will have, though I do expect a settlement with clauses regarding public discussion of the case. Sometimes PR outweighs everything else.
Cancer sucks

they're looking for someone to blame who has the deepest pockets.
Bingo... They lost their meal ticket in Greg Brooks who they expected to make it to the league. Now their next course of action is to sue and get their free ride in that way. Its disgusting for a family to use a kids tumor in order to get money. BK and lsu Ghosted him? They had the damn kids number on every helmet and on the field the entire year. The day they found out BK told the team to win the game for Brooks and gave him the game ball. I am sure BK ghosted him after he could see the writing on the wall that the family was preparing to sue. Also could Greg Brooks even work a cell phone during that time? Perhaps the family looking for their pay day conveniently didnt let Greg know of the times BK reached out and the kid had to take his families word for it.

It's only a bad look to the 76 year old grandma watching and the smooth brains on this board. Anyone with any sense sees what this is.
