Just blatantly wrong. From nola.com:
“Two days after Greg Brooks underwent emergency surgery to remove a brain tumor, coach Brian Kelly visited him in the hospital.
Effects of heavy sedation had not worn off, so Kelly could not have a full conversation Sunday with LSU’s fifth-year senior safety. But Kelly knew what Brooks had expressed before the operation.
‘He was pretty clear about playing again this year,’ said Kelly, chuckling. ‘That's Greg Brooks.’”

If OLOL had someone perform the operation that wasnt a specialist in that kind of surgery then thats on OLOL
That’s another disingenuous element of the story being told by Greg’s dad. If a neurosurgeon isn’t qualified to remove a brain tumor, who is? The lawsuit states that Greg should’ve been treated by a neurosurgeon with further fellowship training in pediatric neurosurgery, but Greg was 22 years old when he had the tumor removed. If a surgeon who’s only trained to operate on adults were to operate on an infant, I could see how that would be unqualified. Not so much a young man in his 20s.

Seriously question, do you think if a direct friend or relative of the physician, or the very rich is not gonna have that MRI ordered for them?
As a physician, no. Lmao. That’s still not how this works.

I don't know if its been brought up or not, but I'm guessing the family is also being forced to sue because I know damn well insurance is not just gonna pay everything out if there is even a hint of negligence.
What insurance, specifically, do you think 1) should be paying out and 2) is refusing to pay out due to any “hint of negligence”?

I have mixed feeling on this. I hate for any young person working towards a goal to have something like this happen to them. Honestly though, 39 days to figure out what was wrong is pretty fast. The first assumption of him having vertigo makes sense also. That would be the most common issue causing his symptoms. I don’t know about negligence for OLOL. Maybe that’s legitimate. Kelly may have stopped communicating with him at some point, but who knows what kind of reception he was getting from the family. I’m sure some teammates remained in touch as well as some of the coaches.

His health insurance. Your health insurance will cover things related to health issues, but if they think your current state is due to negligence from a surgery and not from the actual medical condition then they aren’t going to cover the things like rehab, etc.
Who should be paying out? don’t know whomever they think is liable.
I’m not saying this is the case, but I’m saying it’s very common.
My source: My friend who is a lawyer for an insurance company.

Do some research before you make such asinine statements. There are plenty of local news articles quoting BK and the Brooks family about continued support and contact between BK, LSU and the Brooks family before and after surgery. The contact stopped once the Brooks family filed a lawsuit. Damn we have some idiots on this board
