another thing to consider is that the Iowa message boards are pathetic at best...

the great feathered one allows a lot of freedom to posters here...

Iowa fans on here only like the lsu fans that respect Iowa. Iowa doesn't deserve any respect. They are a middle of the road team in a middle of the road conference.

Well of course they can. Any team can. But if lsu even plays decent the game shouldn't be close.

All of these Iowa fans are just looking for justification that their team is relevant, as evidenced by the post claiming they have a chance at being a top 10 team next year.

So do you think LSU plays this game in a vacuum or what? Every time LSU loses it's only because they didn't play well and not because the opponent outplayed them? Please.

As far as the top ten comment goes...

This year reminds a lot of Iowa fans of 2008, another year where we ended up in the Outback Bowl and absolutely kicked the crap out of another SEC school in South Carolina. The next year we were 9-0 and #3 in the nation when our starting QB went down and we "stumbled" down the stretch to finish #8 (after demolishing Georgia Tech in the Orange Bowl).

So, top ten next year really isn't far fetched whatsoever. We've been there four times in the past ten years.

Feel free to spout off about LSU's recent history here. I know it's very good. But the point that Iowa is a relavent program in the past decade still stands.

You guys have no idea what you're talking about when it comes to Hawkeye Football. I do know where LSU has been and I also know that you aren't nearly as good this year as previous and have now lost your starting QB who had one of the best seasons an LSU QB has ever had.

I like our chances. I'm not off base in saying that.

Eh it's important to both teams. I'd rather not lose back-to-back bowl games, but that's just me.
You get an amen from me.
Any Tiger more worried about the NFL than giving 100%, feels any contest is meaningless, or OK with losing "just a bowl game" should ride pine and make room for a Tiger who's all-in.
I want to see PRIDE.

True. I do like the give and take and really have some pretty thick skin. Doesn't mean I won't defend my school.

Well of course not. There are teams that are better than lsu (see Alabama). There are also teams that are on the same level as lsu and the game could easily go either way (see a healthy Georgia team). Iowa is neither of these. Lsu's best is much better than Iona's best.

As another poster pointed out OSU and Mich St WILL be better than Iowa next year. The big 10 will not have 3 teams in the top 10. You don't even post here but i will self ban myself if Iowa finishes the season in the top 10 next year.

Hmmm....we don't know Iowa football because we disagree with your obviously biased opinion, but yet you have studied this lsu team so that somehow allows you to form your opinion about them.

No, you don't know Iowa football because you're too self absorbed and don't care about Iowa. I care (and learn) about each and every one of our opponents because it's fun, interesting and you gain a lot of perspective in doing so.

Looking forward to you not posting here next year. Check out our schedule for next year and you'll see where I'm coming from.

From reading your analysis of this LSU team and your predictions for the game,I'm not sure how well that's working out for you.

If Iowa does not finish the season in the top 10 will you never post here again?

Iowa is just like every other big 10 team. They are going to try to run the ball and use the run to set up play action. They aren't going to put up a ton of points and will try to control the ball. There's nothing special about Iowa. After a quick glance at their schedule and scores from this year I know they are a mediocre big 10 team.

Cool. There might be one game on our schedule next year that we won't be favored in (Wisconsin, although they lose a bunch and you guys should kill them).

Here's our schedule for next year (it's crappy)...

2014
August
30 Northern Iowa (FF)
September
6 Ball State
13 Iowa State (Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series)
20 at Pittsburgh
27 at Purdue
October
4 Bye
11 Indiana (Homecoming)
18 at Maryland
25 Bye
November
1 Northwestern
8 at Minnesota
15 at Illinois
22 Wisconsin
28 Nebraska (Hy-Vee Heroes Game)

The short version is that if Mettenberger was healthy LSU woudl be close to a double digit favorite even with its defensive issues.

Without him, it's going to depend on what LSU gets out of the QB position.

It's that simple.

That schedule is shameful. @Pitt isn't going to be as easy as you think either. You may be in the top ten but I wouldn't consider it some sort of accomplishment to be there because with that schedule you should be.

Plus if you get to the Big 10 title game you probably get beat dropping you back out of the top ten.

But hey you gotta have goals, right?
