Well hell, as long as we're playing that game... If LSU's defense made 2 more stops this year we'd be 11-1 going into the bowl game.
But would be playing in a bcs bowl...

Wow, is this some sort of bad joke? Iowa has NO idea what kind offense LSU is going to run with Jennings under center. He's every bit the definition of a true dual threat QB who will look to pass first before run. With all the weapons LSU have, I truly DO NOT see or even expect Iowa to blow them out.

I am going out on a limb here and saying if Iowas offense was a tad bit more consistent, we'd be 10-2 going into this bowl game.

Well you guys act like your team is 11-1, so you've got that going for ya.

I've seen Iowa play a handful of times over the last couple years, and y'all have a pretty good program. I don't think the Iowa secondary can cover Landry & OBJ though. How do you feel about your defensive backs?

Every team is suppose to beat Iowa, I mean come on it's Iowa... We were underdogs to Florida, S Carolina, Missouri, GT and LSU before. Heck I bet we've been underdogs in every bowl game under Ferentz, surprising that we are not 0-9 in bowl games.

I don't think they will be able to cover all night. They have been known to make some head scratching plays, but they have gotten better during the last half of the season. Our linebackers can cover the short field really well, but teams that have beat us did it through the air.
I think the Iowa defense will hold its own through most of the game save for a couple big plays from LSU. My main area of concern for Iowa is redzone scoring, if we are only coming up with 3 pts a drive we are in trouble. We need to score TDs and not let teams creep back in the game.

That is pretty close to your record in meaningful games. Ferentz crushes it in exhibitions though.

And Iowa is acting like they are playing some mid-major.
LSU fans have brought you stats to counter almost every single thing Iowa fans have said. You tend to ignore them if they don't go in your favor and are accurate.

Your kidding right, who here has said Iowa has more talent and better stats than LSU? LSU is ranked 14th in the country, not one Iowa fan feels we are better than LSU, but we do feel we can win this one and are better than expected.

Then I suggest LSU doesn't play in these "exhibition" games since they can't seem to win them. You should stick to playing teams in the SEC.

I really hate these I-come-in-peace rah rah posts from people from other fan bases. The more well intentioned they are, the more violent they make me. LSU fans need an exclusive place to empty our irrational fears, desires, complaints, hopes, dreams and thoughts without any interference from Web interlopers. You stay on your fan boards, we'll stay on ours and never shall the cyber-twine meet.

I like the visiting fans. Spices things up and makes it interesting instead of having the same asinine discussions about tDecline and how much the students suck and attendance issues and pumpers v. negatigers. That's just me though.
ETA and the bantering back and forth actually makes me more interested in a game I was wholly uninterested in otherwise.

We play in these exhibition games for 2 reasons. One is to earn the $ to build the best facilities, recruit the best players and compete for national titles. The second is to break in a freshman QB and get him ready to start next season. From a win/loss perspective, this is by far the least important game of the year. Anyone who tries to predict how these teams will approach an exhibition game is wasting their time.

quote:And you realize there is less difference between -6.5 and -21 than there is between -6.5 and what the OP predicted, much less the "could be easily more than double digit win for Iowa"? I'll never understand why opposing fans come here to pump up their team and are outraged when it is reciprocated.
You'd think the line was -21 LSU and not -6.5

So did the fans of TCU, Oregon, West Virginia, VA Tech and quite a few others who logged on to TD to inform the "uninformed" LSU fans why their teams were different and LSU would be caught off guard. Believe me, this thread is not original.

was thinking the same thing. we just looking to get outta there with any type of win and move on to the 2nd. hopefully the players come ready and focused cause our fans just dont seem to care as much..we are more worried about the next day.

If LSU wins this game they are top10 in the polls, if not well then ranked around 20th. This game is more important than half of the games you played.
