You just stated why of all things you should not be a Miles supporter. I can forgive a lot of things but Miles being a former OLineman "at Michigan no less under Bo" and OLine coach, the one constant we should have and DEMAND at LSU is excellence from the OLine. Our OLine the last 2 years has been expectations of greatness and performance woefully short. That has got to be laid on Miles feet, I don't care if Stud is the OLine coach Miles should have pride that the one area of strength year in, year out is going to be the OLine.

I'm with you about Miles and both lines suck!

Could we see position coach changes for both? Unless we get back to dominant football on the line of scrimmage, we will continue to be inconsistent at best.

i dont think they quit, they just got completely and utterly out-everythinged (talking about the oline) near the end of the 4th.

props to les for not quitting like 1/9...i guess...

I honestly don't know of any player that I would consider the "vocal" leader.

Ara Parseghian, Barry Switzer, Bryant, maybe Spurrier

I agree with the OP about the quitting. I certainly looked last year like the team gave up after the Bama loss. In fact, we are still not over whatever it was that happened between the SEC CG in 2011 and the BCS CG in 2012.

That was why it cracked me up in 2011 when people complained about the players having too much "swag". That was a young defense filled with leaders

The players admitted to it

Mett sacked play after play as the Bama game was ending was disgraceful! They "let" Bama whip their collective arses.
Sad, but true! Three wins from here on out will revive confidence and self respect.

While I really hope they stay, you can't blame them if they want to go the NFL.

One more year of college ball

or

A million dollar paycheck, or at least a couple hundred thousand.

And then they will go bankrupt within five years as happens to 78% of NFL players.

I would rather be wealthy for a few years than to go thru my entire life, not making more than $80,000 per year. That is on the high end of the spectrum down in Louisiana.

Doesn't Les Miles fit this category? 2007 (NC), then fading in 2008/2009 (a lot of people were writing him off), then returning to prominence in 2011...And don't give me "1/9/12" as your response. An undefeated regular season with the schedule we had was by definition a return to prominence.

Absolutely true. Good one.

Hopefully he can do it again. Im looking at 2015 realistically.

They literally gave up 2nd half of the NC game, packed it in last year after Bama loss, and clearly quit in the 4th quarter versus Bama this week

yep.

You only get punished for fumbles. Not playing hard, stupid penalties, and blown assignments seem to be tolerated by this staff. Just once I would like to see CLM go off when a player does something stupid.

Of course, I'll admit Les needs a triple return to prominence at this point...

Do you really think finishing a degree is going to make those types of players that blow their millions after retirement make better financial decisions?

Like that's really some safety net for those guys? If they blew their millions, they'll likely blow the 60 grand they make selling insurance once they're out of the league too.

The whole "get your degree" argument is stupid. If they can't set aside a few thousand dollars to finish whatever credits they need to graduate after making a minimum of $600,000 a year for a couple of years, their degree would likely just be a piece of paper that they're never able to capitalize on anyway.

A degree isn't a guarantee of success any more than entering their name to the draft is. It all comes down to how they handle the opportunities they're given.

LSU rarely shows up ready to play for 4 quarters.

Does LSU ever play hard, disciplined football for four quarters anymore? I don't remember the last time this happened. Maybe somebody could refresh my memory.

The football team is very casual. It's obvious to me that they are kids trying to have fun and make a case for playing at the next level. Nothing more.
