That's like my father in law. He has hearing aids but won't wear them at home. Turns the tv up so loud in the bedroom that even with the door closed I can perfectly hear it.

My wife in her 50s listens to the TV at way too high of volume. Not deaf yet, but she always have to TVs, etc. at loud levels so we know where this is heading in a few decades

My dad’s 85 almost 86 and it’s the same damn thing he has a freaking TV so loud it’s painful. We bought him some ears that he can put in himself the connect to the TV and he refuses to freaking wear them because then he “ doesn’t feel part of any conversation”.
Problem is the TV so damn loud there’s no conversation to be had unless he uses his ears The only relief is he mutes it during commercials.

My dad died at age 67, so I don’t have any sympathy for you
