Will the offense have to carry the defense early on?

Ryan Clark is quoted in the advocate saying:

“For the first time in a while I think the offense is going to have to play well and carry the defense for a little bit.”

I am somewhat surprised by that statement. Anyone else?

You mean the collective retardation of tRant was wrong again?

This is shocking and upsetting news.

Frankly, I've been concerned with the defense since aTm last year. Yeah, I know we were playing the refs, too, but the defense just needed to make 1 stop in OT and they couldn't in 7 tries.

Must have a crystal ball to foresee the injuries in the front 7.

Ryan Clark is a great analyst. I wasn't sure that was his calling. But he's really good.

He definitely called AB correctly when many doubted him. I don't mean anyone here though.

I’ll admit I was in that group, even though he’s at most practices I was like “there’s no way”. Especially after the Georgia southern game I thought he was full of it....guess he was right

Well I’m glad I didn’t see that thread. But I also think highly of what Clark says so I may have taken it somewhat serious.

I didn't hear this statement, but if he meant it the way it reads, he doesn't know much about LSU football.

Is he capable of saying anything that isn't utterly stupid?

This is a stupid exaggeration. Of course they stopped them in overtime multiple times. But A&M just kicked field goals. They got the ball in field goal range, you know.

You're right, of course.

Counting regulation (and the relevant OT periods), all the defense had to do in that game was stop them from scoring a TD 1 time in 6 tries. They gave up 6 TDs.

Just one stop and we win the game. Sure, the offense could have scored 1 or 2 more TDs, but they did score one at the 2 minute mark and in 5 of 7 OT periods, so 6/8 is pretty damned good.

2/8 seems to be not that good when it is a "must have" stop. (ETA and, for good measure, gave up a 2-point at the very end - now, that's a push, because the offense didn't convert their 2-point in that same OT period.)
