1. Linehan & Ensminger put a QB with pocket presence/footwork + body language as bad as Brennan was yesterday out there and then lined up in shotgun with 3-WR split 90% of the game.

2. No adjustments on defense

In summary, personnel took a big hit — but the scheme drop-off was as bad as anyone could’ve imagined. Pretty much worst case scenario.

The only thing we can hope for is that they had simplified some things due to the youth and shortened off-season. If this is what we look like the rest of the year, I think a lot of heads will be rolling (CEO is insulated, but not his new hires).

That’s the offense. What do you want?

34 points should have been enough. The D allowed 44 pts against Miss State

You’ve got to have someone to run it. Either you throw someone else out there or coach around your personnel.

*and an SEC passing record.

Some of this could be attributed to youth, but the lack of HT adjustments is notable.

The D scored 7 of those points. And kept generating turnovers to keep us in the game.

The offense was terrible in the first half and the D got torched in the second. It was a bad game all around.

they generated 3 turnovers and got 7 points in one so there was really not a “possession change” that took time off the clock to allow them to rest or the offense to get onto the field to kill time.

One turnover was a QB/Center exchange and it was recovered by the defense. It wasn’t forced by the defense. Subtle differences.

That this board still doesn’t get that you can’t scheme your way out of a lack of experience.

I’m sure it’s a bit of both, but when your game plan is failing horribly you cannot just run the same thing out there with no wrinkles or contingency and pray it starts working.

DBs were getting torched vertically in man + Brennan took sacks/throwaways on plays where he had 4 seconds in a clean pocket against what is supposed to be a bad defensive backfield.

He was escaping the pocket when he didn’t need to, and if the RB room is so good you’ve got to try and work in some screens/quick outs or just any sort of variety. Can’t just try and run out of shotgun + do 2/3 deep routes with the same slant (which he was not throwing accurately) the whole game.

Game management was as bad as the execution.

The Pirate seemed to scheme around a lack of experience and a brand new scheme that was 100% different
