Basketball? Is that that thing that takes place between the end of football season, and the start of spring football practice? That is, the other thing besides football recruiting and National Signing Day?

This bunch wasn't very good with Victor, but he was clearly one of the best on the team. His leaving maybe justifiable; however, it eliminated any chance for perhaps 5/6 SEC wins in a fairly bad conference. Relatively speaking, Miles is the far better coach. The level of interest like most SEC teams in basketball is not close to football as many have pointed out. Yet, this team is a joke. I'd say fire Alleva and find a good replacement and let Jones coach out the year(save the money by lowering the buy out). I don't think anyone trusts Alleva to make a good hire unless he totally lucks out anyway.

Yes, I have. And I still stand by what I say. Those that start threads or comment on anything related to basketball is probably 1/20th of that of football, maybe much less. Sure it is the topic of a lot of threads but very very few with very many responses. The low quantity of posters is what is telling. LSU fans as a whole and relatively speaking are virtually unconcerned with basketball from my perspective.

even if basketball were a perennial contender, this would be the case IMO

And I think you mistake people not caring with people actually just sighing and giving up. That's what I've done. When you're so bad, you sort of just have to accept it. It's obvious JJ is about to be fired, so no sense in getting all in a fuss.

Are you kidding, there are only a few hundred people left on the planet who really care about LSU basketball and of those are 10 or so of Jones's friends, former teammates and players and mentor who got him the job.

Not even close as a comparison. Now if you are talking about a percentage of those having an opinion on either I think more of the few hundred basketball fans want Johnny gone than percentage of football folks that wanted Les gone.

Both needed to be gone. We are half way there.

Miles always had supporters, even at the end. Still others said he should have been allowed to coach the rest of the season.

I'm not aware of anyone supporting Jones.

Agreed. and that is my point exactly. LSU is not a basketball program. In general the fans don't care.

I'm not sure you can assume that. It was obvious to me that he needed to be fired last year, but that didn't happen. And if LSU fans cared about basketball they sure as hell wouldn't just sigh and give up. That is the exact attitude that keeps the crap coming. If the fans don't get 'all in a fuss' that could be interpreted as they don't care and that could translate into one of two things: 1. Jones doesn't get canned or 2. His replacement is another low budget, under qualified yawner.

I'd bet a year's earnings he's fired by March. That's why I'm not in a fuss. I actually believe that.

Stansbury or Kermit would be immediate upgrades.
