He’s going to a big school with a track record of putting pitchers in the MLB.

Moffett feels like his ability to be a starter lies elsewhere.

The part that is so disappointing is Jay said after his outing against A&M when he went 3.1 innings that the next step in his progression was adding a 3rd pitch he could command to work into a starting role. Dude has electric stuff and the potential is there. Its just disappointing that as of right now it looks like someone else is going to see those results and not us. Because if he were to have come back I would have been interested to see if he turned into the role of Herring this year and then in a deep post season run he got a few spot starts in the Supers and Omaha. Wishful thinking but it still hurts to lose a talented arm like his.

This is what bothers me.

You could see he's coming along and is about to take that next step. For whatever reason he decided he needs to do that somewhere else. And now, when he does take that next step, externally and with the tards on this board, there will be a narrative that we couldn't develop him but someone else could.

And it will be bullshite.

I wish him the best.

I think he's taking the same risk that he would have if he would stay at LSU.

I hope he pitches well because his stuff is good enough to be a great pitcher.

For me that depends where he lands. And there is only one other school in the SEC that would have me still rooting for him, but apparently they're not it.

That would not have me pulling for him.

What are you hearing on Sheerin? I'm going to assume you're here posting in good faith and not trolling and ask about portal guys we're both after.

Pretty much every pitcher that enters the portal is looking for a starting role.

Moffett can barely make it through a couple of innings without losing the strike zone. I can't see why he would think he's starter material

I don't deny that, but you also can't deny what I said. It clearly played a part in Saban calling it a day.

Heard he already made his decision yesterday. And it’s not in Mississippi.

This is exactly what is going to happen. Which is why I am still holding out hope that Jay will somehow be able to convince him to take his name out of the portal and he can remain on our roster and be a very impactful pitcher for us next year. Because he is not far off from being extremely dominant.

Makes plenty of sense. Was never going to see continuous playing time with new recruits. He has had 2 years to gain control of his pitches and hasnt.

I was told not to. I’m just here to pass on he enjoyed his time here. That’s why at first there was a chance he could’ve changed his mind and come back but he found a place he’s happy and comfortable with. He’s a good kid from a good family. Said it in another post, he’s worked very hard to get to this point and somewhere different may be the spot to get him in the draft. It was never about money (for those who think it is). I’m sure one of the College baseball insiders will release it soon. He’s now focused on getting better.
When I saw on here I was shocked. Till I texted it to someone who knew over that weekend. They reiterated how much he loved playing for LSU.

So he loves LSU and is focused on getting better now. Why wasn't he focused on getting better before and why is he leaving ?

Loaded question. Where did you come up with he’s only now working to get better? You think he didn’t work hard at lsu?

He’s no doubt seeing if he can get a better education somewhere else, being a student athlete and all.
