Football is a not designated as a male only sport. Women have played football in Highshool and college before. Typically women aren't athletic enough to make the team and if they are assholes often won't let them play. So get over this is only a mans sport and stop fearing getting tackled by a woman.

I think that if we recruit a 3 or 4 star kicker or have a great kicker or two already under scholarship, then why stir the pot and try to do something you've never done just because you have a wild hair.
I think it is pretty common for many teams to invite multiple potential walk-on kickers to participate in a "try-out" during spring drills. A friend of mine's son did it at Auburn a few years ago. I think he said they had about 7 trying out. One was invited to work out with the team.

Drew Alleman went 16-18 last season. So what's the point of this? We have back ups.
Also kickoffs are from the 35 this season. Those won't be a problem like they were at the beginning of the season.

We never know what can happen with kickers.
They are headcases as it is. Our kickers could get in a funk or they could get nagging injuries.
Mo could easily step in and be big for us potentially if needed next year.
But I do understand the thought about her being a distraction. I don't see any way around it. She would be a distraction IMO. But it's not like you can just deny her the chance to try out.
I hope she makes it personally.

I don't care about field goals, Alleman has that job. The problem LSU has is kick off distance. Routinely they were short and with no hang time. That is why Hairston got the redshirt pulled. Put the best person out there. If she kicks the football through the endzone, then no need to worry about her tackling.
Yeah but aren't they pushing the kickoff up 5 yards? It really shouldn't be an issue anymore...

she is doing it for attention.
quote:decent high school kickers do that on the reg.
I heard her longest FG in practice was 50-51 yards,

I think this is stupid. We have kickers on scholarship, she should also be concerned about her future soccer career or concentrate on a journalism career.
I think it's great. Fantastic publicity stunt.

You can't deny that Mo is doing this for personal gain, but you also need to understand few things about Mo before you pass judgement.
First, she really loves being a part of the LSU community, and she feels a strong desire to leave her mark here.
Next, she is a competitor, and part of this is that she's trying to challenge herself.
Lastly, Mo is probably the most qualified of any female who's ever attempted this. She's got size, strength and speed (for a female). She's not a joke or a side show. Girl can kick.
If Miles sends Mo home after one practice, she will accept it. Why are so many unwilling to accept that she might make it past one practice?

and she probably won't either. but who cares? if she makes the roster as the 3rd string kicker than good for her.

because she might break a nail.

I seriously hope she does not make it.
It would be an embarrassment... I can't wait until she graduates and goes away

My only concern is the pre-game trains in the locker room will wear out the players.
Joke
I know Mo is "Kissless until Christmas"
FYI I don't care either way as long as it in no way becomes a distraction.
