Because there’s not a single spot in the line up or field that Hampton can add value at!!!!

How do you tell a potential first round draft pick that is ready to quit football to dedicate himself to baseball that he has no spot here?
Do you have a link which quotes Mainieri telling Hampton that?

I honestly don't think we saw enough to know how good he could be or not be at baseball.

Nope
In 2020 he comes out late for baseball. He begins in late January and earns his first start in the fourth game of the season and starts on 6 of the next 8 games. He gets hurt before the first day of March. He plays for about five weeks.

He missed fall ball and comes out for the 2021 season and finds a crowded outfield. He

2020 in limited play he had every opportunity to play, and he got it. Why would you think that PM would not treat him the same in 2021 if he was measuring up?

He was up against Dugas in left. Gio had CF seen up and Crews RF. Even when Gio is injured Drost a promising freshman was waiting in the wings.

Now why didn’t PM give him a few more ABs? I don’t know snd neither does anyone here, but it’s not like Hampton got short changed in 2020. I have to conclude he was getting beat out by others who were in baseball year round.

Downvote away. You enter the portal mid-season, you're a quitter. Period

This! He's being a bitch. No reason to quit mid season just because coach told you you were behind. Put in extra work and catch up or......quit

Didn’t tell him there was no spot. Told him that they had some guys that had passed him up and he would have to be patient before he got his opportunity. Hampton apparently didn’t like the idea of being patient and is now leaving.

Does anyone think he is a first round pick now?

He's the one quitting.

There's one human responsible for this. Mo Hampton.

He was a first round type of talent an MLB team could take coming out of high school as an 18 year old. I don’t think any MLB team is looking at him as a 20 year old that has spent half of the last two years not focusing on baseball as a first round take.

He wasn’t forced out. Show me anywhere that PM said “Mo, you need to leave the team “. His parents are his own worst enemies right now.

Odd thing for a coach to make up out of thin air.

These things usually dont end well when the parents are posting on social media.

Completely agree. And we talked about the PM thing. No idea why he’d make it up.

Stop recruiting these kids from Tennessee.

Stay in the boot.
I'll take a 3-4 star kid from the boot over a 5 star Tennessee kid every day!

I know there's a couple every now and then but the talent level in that state is abysmal compared to the state of Louisiana.
