You have to remember. These are the people who are still showing up for the games. The knowledgeable basketball fans who aren't living in delusion have long stopped showing up.

That’s a great point. Just baffling to me that they don’t see it the same way that we do. The record is the record.

That's the normal now.

Actual speeling is out the window. (Someone will see that).

Think about this one...

I see the media is trying their hardest to float the injuries excuse. Poor Matt is the only coach that has injured players. Just not fair.

Texas Tech just lost a legitimate All American and likely 1st round pick for the season. A guy who was the 3rd leading scorer in the conference, the leading rebounder, an only one of two guys averaging a double-double. All they did in the next 2 games is win by an average of 20 points. The latter a 12 point win over a team that had won 4 straight, and was coming off a blowout win @ Kansas.

That's not to say the injury won't significantly hurt Texas Tech's chances (it will). But McMahon loses a decent PG and a role player and the wheels completely fall off. Hell, he even got the PG back for 3 games where he averaged 11ppg/4apg. The result? 0-3 by a 12 point average margin of defeat.

If only McMahon had a $40M roster and ZERO adversity the middle of the SEC wouldn't know what hit them!!!!!

They don't care and we're just expressing the frustration.

There are stupid people out there, but to this degree, they have access and choose to post on TD.

We now know their intentions. It certainty is not about LSU success.

Cold hard information that will drive the McMen insane and pretty much kills their narrative. Well done.

I watch a lot of Big12 basketball and JT Toppin is a beast. That is a big loss for Tech. Winning the immediate two games after he’s out by 20 points is impressive as hell. McCasland is a great coach.

It really makes you wonder how McMahon got to this level. I suppose it’s like the guy in corporate America who just had the right connections and somehow made it to the C-Suite.

McMahon is awful at developing contingency plans. In his second season, Jalen Cook was ruled ineligible for the first several games. Yet, McMahon did not have a backup PG on the roster. Big oversight. I knew he didn’t have what it takes then.

Like you said, we lost two players and the season went into a downward spiral.

Too young to remember this, so I just went back and rewatched. Chills. PMAC is so much fun when we're playing well.

It wasn't that Cook was "ruled" ineligible. He WAS ineligible after he signed with LSU. He went into the season ineligible. That was at a time where the rule players only got 1 "free" transfer without having to sit a year. McMahon/LSU went into that season with no guarantee Cook would be able to play a single game. It wasn't until a judge in West Virginia entered a TRO, in December, essentially making multi-time transfers, such as Cook, eligible. So yes, if the ENTIRE foundation of what you want to do rests on having a top tier PG, it would probably make sense to prepare a backup plan when there is no assurance that PG will even be allowed to play.

IMO, the bigger issue is not necessarily having no contingency (it would be tough to sign tow top end PGs who both want big minutes), but the unwillingness to adjust from the original plan when circumstances change. You lost Thomas. It sucks. But you don't have anyone else on your roster with his skill-set....so you can't try to play the same style...which was basically just setting high ball screens and asking Thomas to "create". Now. maybe the offense has to change. Maybe you have to become less reliant on the pick and roll, and operate in a different structure. Maybe you have to try to try to speed up the pace on defense to not make it a half-court game. But MM never really changes his approach in game. The initial game plan is the game plan. He's not adjusting. Hopefully it's good enough. But if not, oh well, maybe better luck next time.

We already have the cardboard coach. I'm fairly certain I can order some cross-armed cardboard that won't cost $2.7 million.

You think Golden had a PG to effectively replace Clayton if he had been lost for the season?

Who does Cal have behind Acuff that would be similarly effective?

You think BAMA would have beaten LSU Saturday if Holloway was out?

Who backed up Zeigler at Tennessee with similar skills?

\Yes, if the ENTIRE foundation of what you want to do rests on having a top tier PG and virtually any team who loses a player of the caliber of Dedan Thomas would be tremendopusly affected. Jalen Reece is about as good as you can exzpect and he has had some good moments and shows a lot of promkise, but he does not have three years experience. Combine that with the loss of a skilled veteran inside player for the second yeart in a row and this team has done an amazing job in being competitive in most league games . Even the league a-hole Nate Oats acknowledgted it.
