I think he still leaves.
He is at his ceiling and won't have any bargaining power if he stays for his senior year.
ETA: Is Newman good enough to be a full time starter?

Yeah, he's one that got away. Apparently something with his process of reclassifying last year made him ineligible to come to LSU due to needing more credits to get, but not to graduate.
So he went to San Jac and mashed instead.

Yeah, I couldn't even begin to tell you what the Blue Jays board looks like right now.
Their SB Nation site does a better job than any other ones of tracking the signings as compared to the slot caps and everything though as I learned when Pap and Latz got drafted by them.
