Well I know they have a lot of issues concerning illegal useage of brazilian rosewood (species Dalbergia nigra)... but I'm pretty sure that mahogany (species Swietenia mahagoni), is not found in Brazil at all. I know that true mahogany is primarily found in Honduras. Mahogany isn't as dense as rosewood, nor as heavy, and comes in much lighter colors compared to the purpleish rose colors that rosewood comes in.
