Washington's last drive, we were just trying to keep everything in front of us, tackle, and allow them to run the clock out. We were successful in doing so.
Didn't they score? How is that successful?

Because they were down by two scores and only got one.
The point of the game is to win, not to only lose by 8. UW (and in no small effort to our defense keeping everything in front of them and making them use the clock) gave themselves exactly Zero seconds to have a shot at maybe tying the game.
FWIW, people that hate the "prevent" when you're up by over a TD are stupid. Basic football. If you're ahead by over a score late in the game (under 3 minutes), keep everything in front of you. The only thing that will give the other team a chance to get back in the game is a quick score. I know immediately when someome criticizes the prevent defense late in a ballgame in which you lead doesn't know football.
When the game is over, which it was, you run prevent. It's a no-brainer whether people criticize it or not. Just like in baseball, late in the game with a lead, you guard the lines. You can agree or not agree with that all you want, but there's no decision to be made ... that's what you have to do.

And just think....had there been a second or two left on the clock when we successfully let them score, they could have on-sided and heaved another one to the endzone. Doubly successful.

I liked everything Miles said except this..
I know that defensive theory but I don agree with it and think it will cost us games in the future. Chavis is known for this and known for it not working.
I would prefer an attack defense much like Saban and Pellini would run in that situation.

i have no issues with this strategy at all....why would you leave yourself vunerable to a big play touchdown then opportunity for an onside kick?

Classic damned if you do, damned if you don't situation. Could work out in your favor, but there's always an Iowa situation that can make you check your thinking.

I have no problem with it. They had to score two tds. We took away anything deep down the field and made them throw underneath and run off all the time thus eliminating any chance of a fluke onside kick at the end. Sure it doesn't look good on the final score but "VICTORY WAS ACHIEVED".

Neither did most of the posters here that still get called Negatigers! Just as an example he said the O line needs to get better and that is all it takes for someone here to get bashed. So it is official. Les Miles is a Negatiger
Miles says we have work to do. He never bashes the players publicly and he doesn't throw any of his coaches under a bus , which can't be said for most of the negatigers. As far as whether he's a positiger, i hope he isn't. He's the head coach and if anyone SHOULD be critical of our players and coaches it should be him. Our fans just need to chill out. IF we lose 5 games, and i emphasize IF, then you have an arguement that les is on some sort of hotseat. But it's only been ONE game

I just try to remain as objective as I can. I know I definitely lean in the "sunshine pumper" category, as there is NO WAY to remain objective about a team you follow, but I try my best to remain objective.
One thing I've learned, things are never as good as they may seem, and they're typically never as bad as they may seem. The reality usually lies somewhere in the middle.

Tackling in the first half was the biggest issue on defense. Tackle and the first half is a lot different.
Blame it all on the players two years in a row!

Link to the video of the PC?

I thought we made it clear on Page1 of this thread that if you did not listen to the PC and you are only seeking to criticize - not to mention you are twisting the truth - then your opinion does not count. Write yourself a letter about your thoughts on Les, because the rest of us don't care.
