if this was a chess match or poker game, the washington coaching staff dominated..
Except for the fact that they didn't try to win the game after getting the ball back in the forth. They were more concerned with making the final score closer.

Quite possibly true. Nonetheless, you're annoying me in this thread, so please move along. There's nothing more to see here (for you).

Maximus is it cool to be a dick, always...Let face it, no matter what Miles says or does it will be never enough for some...Some will always find fault...You can not believe that Miles is happy with the performance of the team in general...Please, the coaching staff knows they need to fix some problems...Jeez, are you that stupid that you have to hear Miles saying we suck...WTF...Miles does not need to make the Negatigers and the idiots on this board happy...

nor do I need to make you happy by drinking the Koolaid. If my posts really bother you that much, just work on scrolling past them faster.

I think we're going to see a lot of this at the pressers this year

Whatever Pelini did, it worked well enough to win one national title and another BCS Bowl win. I think two BCS bowl wins in three years is a fine resume of success for a scheme, don't you?
The ultimate in armchair quarterbacking, calling half the effort behind that kind of success not working.

The point is that all is not well because Miles just fed the local media a bunch of bullshite about our defense only sucking because the players can't tackle. He's never going to come out and admit any fault in his coaching or his underlings so thinking that "OMG we're just a couple little minor improvements from the players away from being awesome because Les just told me so" is naive at best.
A coach SHOULD believe in his gameplan until it is executed well and then is proven not to work. How do you not understand this? Would you prefer a coach that doesn't believe in his gameplan and that of his coordinators' even before it is executed well? (Or if its a disaster like last year, shown that the coordinators are so f'ed up that they can't come close to teaching execution of the gameplan.)
But that's the point, Miles and rational posters are smart enough to know that one game, one point of data, is not enough information to judge by. Irrational posters like yourself are blind to logic right now.

Washington was loading up the box, and prevented us from getting any real ground game going in the first half.
We all knew UW would do this. Knowing this going in is there not a way to burn them early; i.e., throw downfield? Or do you just continue the same up the gut play?

Washington is not even in school yet, so they didn't even have to worry about the school issue.
I was not aware of this until it was mentioned by the announcers. A valid "excuse"?
Anyway I give credit to Washington and hope they kick arse this year.

Not only them not being in school, but Washington (because they had not started school), did not have a limit on the number of hours practiced/prep for the LSU game.
Bob Davie himself said it was unfair. How big of an impact would it have on the game? Not much, but one would be silly to think it had no impact given they were unlimited in the amount of time they could use to prepare for LSU, as where LSU was limited in our time to prepare.
Even with that, we still controlled the game, and were never in jeopardy of losing. Are there things to correct and improve upon? Most certainly yes. But to expect that in the first game we would play a "perfect game" is just silly, I don't care if we're playing Eastern Montana State.
We all agree that Washington is a better team than most thought they would be, including probably the LSU coaches. We faced plenty of adversity, certainly didn't play our best football, and still won the game on the road in a pretty hostile environment with relative ease. We simply were better, and it showed.

The only way we could lose that game was to allow UW to score quickly after we scored our TD. I HATE the prevent Defense, but this situation was a time when it was totally justified. We were encouraging them to use up the clock to sure up the win for us. UW was more interested in making the final score closer than actually winning the game.

It is my understanding that the allowable practice times are different when schools are in school as opposed to being out of school.

point being that they didn't want to give Wash the chance to score twice to possibly tie the game. Scoring once while running all the time off the clock didn't mean anything. Of course Miles has a difficult time making a clear point.

I totally agree. I'm with ya ... I'm certainly not a fan of the prevent D in the third quarter, but in the situation with UW, there was no other choice than the prevent D.
Posted on 9/8/09 at 3:10 pm to JPLSU1981
LSU's own sideline reporter said UW only practiced 2 hours a day which was less than LSU but lets not let that get in the way of our excuses.
