Yeah, exclude the MVP of the sec championship game that led LSU to the national title. RP didn't suck, he just made poor off the field decisions.

Because Les Miles is an entertainer. Every great coach understands that his real role is to entertain. The main way to entertain is to win, but Miles is savvy enough to go beyond that.

Except your problem is that you view any criticism at all of Les as irrational.

I think you have to be pretty naive to think that the weeks leading up to the A&M game didn't knock some sense into him.

I don't agree. I think the sense was already there. Miles had the sense to rely on a conservative rushing game because he did not have a competent QB. When Les has had an experienced, competent QB he's thrown the ball plenty.

Nick Saban did the same thing in 2013. I don't think too many people around the Bama program feel that way about it.

Idiot.

Kiffin is entering the second year of his three-year deal with Alabama. He's making $680,000 a year from Alabama in the first two years of the contract and $714,000 in Year 3.

Bama - 2nd in total offense in the SEC last year

New Georgia offensive coordinator Jim Chaney has a three-year contract that will pay him $850,000 per season,

Arkansas - 3rd in total offense in the SEC last year

Cameron made or is set to make $1,519,734 in the final year of a three-year contract that ends March 31. Cameron’s future is uncertain as he has not received a contract extension. LSU’s offense finished 80th in 2014 and is 54th after this year’s regular season. The Tigers passing attack was 116th last year and is 111th this season.

LSU - 7th in total offense in the SEC

Yeah, I'm the idiot....

Maybe LSU should re-evaluate how much they are paying their coaches who apparently can't keep up with modern offensive trends and strategies.

They are paying twice as much for half of the results.

Not really. The new offenses have evolved and advanced so much that it has past right by Miles and Cam that they both need to catch up.

The two guys who combine for one of the highest paid HC/OC tandems in the country need to "catch up."

Cam Cameron is the highest paid OC in college football. Shouldn't he already be on the cutting edge of modern offensive strategies? Or is LSU content with giving a fat paycheck to Les' buddy so he can let other OC's do the revolutionizing. Then he can just "catch up" every few years or so.

Like I said, sad and embarrassing.

ETA: Cameron was actually the highest paid OC in college football in 2015. Corrected.

How about firing Cam's mediocre and overpaid arse, and hiring a new OC who maybe will bring some fire and ingenuity to the offense?

Or you can give him a contract extension...whatever works.

I really wish they would talk to Sean Payton on how to involve a TE. SP would love our TEs.

The guy who thinks that a coach taking steps to try and improve his offense is embarrassing to the program is seriously laughing at someone else?

I must be taking crazy pills.

I do not live in a world of absolutes. It is the absolute ranting and raving that I get on most.

Like that Miles has never had a good passing attack.
Like linking insignificant stats like LSU's national passing ranking without connecting it to LSU's W/L record.
Like not understanding that a good team plays to its strength and not some nebulous "balance" criteria.
Like developing a cult like following to a particular position without understanding that position's role in the scheme.
Like somehow firing all of the coaches because they make too much money.

I don't see how the attackers show any great level of rationality.

People get caught up on this. You guys realize he says a lot of people have a good spring and majority of them play big roles in the up coming season. People just focus on the one guy that doesn't and states that everything Miles says is bs.

No, it's always one guy he puffs up more than others to make you believe he's going to go off that year. Remember all the Frank Herron talk the year prior?

Read my first post in this topic. I don't think that is the funny part. I realize that coaches continually learn from each other and expand their knowledge of the game.

The funny part is how LSU's offense has literally been a national punchline for the past 8 years. Yet the HC and OC are raking in top dollar for their supposed experience, skill, and expertise. The reason it's even funnier is because of all the talk of "watching tape on other teams offenses" as if they have no clue as to what makes those offenses successful.

Balance makes your strength better. Diversity on offense makes you harder to defend and makes everything you do better. Even Les Miles thinks that balance is a worthwhile goal.

In fact, on November 22, 2015, with his job very much in jeopardy he told the Advocate that he realizes they have to be more balanced on offense.

quote:

“I think we have a mobile quarterback. I think we have a guy that can throw it,” he continued. “I still think we can have balance, but I don’t think there is any question that that offense needs to be adapted, to be fixed and adjusted.”

He's discussed balance every year he has been here.

In 2013:

quote:

“I think there’s a confidence, there’s a comfort, becoming more comfortable with the call,” Miles said, “and I think there’s a balance that’s being reached when you see us throw the football, we can do both. We can run it, we can throw it."

So if you support Les, which you obviously do, then you agree that balance needs to be achieved. Nothing nebulous about it. 70/30 isn't balanced.
