Sounds terrible? My mistake. I should have put quotes around "convinced".

Not when the HC is Orgeron.

Here’s a fact : He is not a offensive minded coach.

He needs to just let Ensminger coach and we’ll all find out.

Nah you’re good. I was just saying in general.
It sounds so bad, but it was the truth.

I would hope and expect the HC to do so, when things go sideways.

That's fair, but does he step in asking for solutions from offensive staff or does he go in and try solve it himself?

If Orgeron just turn his head set off and let’s the coaches coach, he could be successful.
hell, I can do that, why not make me the coach? It's not too difficult to find really good coordinators. I'll hire them and then do nothing. And I'd do it for a tenth of what O's making.

I own a company. I let my employees do their jobs-- unless things go sideways. I may not be perfectly versed in all aspects, but as the man in charge, if things get off rails, it's my job to get them back on track.

LSU HC is no different. If you want O to do things that great coaches do... sticking his nose into any aspect of program that is going sideways (as you put it) is what he should do.

As a HC you're just an on the field manager during games and vetoing calls as needed... plus making the WTF calls when needed. Les was good at those calls and yet, bad as well.

Some of the offenses during the Les Miles era looked pretty balanced, but when Cam was brought in... it seemed to go south.

Good point. I don't know his management style. Both methods can be effective, depending on staff. Frankly-- I don't see this as rocket science. We all clamor for more passes to TE, passes downfield, etc. Do I have a problem with HC saying, "Stop running the toss dive and throw to the TE"? No. Even if he doesn't consult with the offensive staff. Then, at half, (or when defense is on field) meet with the Offensive staff and ask for solutions. But that would be my style.

He's the Head Coach. He calls the shots. Why would a reasonable OC desire to Coach under him and be muzzled.

quote:

“[Pitt] was a special place with Coach [Pat] Narduzzi,” Canada said at his introductory news conference. “He allowed us the freedom to do our job, and Coach O certainly said that [he would too].”

Now, all of that feels like a broken promise — on both ends. Orgeron’s promise not to meddle in his offensive coordinator’s plans, part of his undoing as head coach at Ole Miss, was not fulfilled. “I’m the head coach,” Orgeron said this Wednesday. “And we’re going to do what I want to do.

Is there a link for this? I see it thrown around a lot on here.

Yes, you’re right, my point is we’re fricked if Orgeron needs to run the offense.

No link. But going from less than perfect memory-- in 2016 E had to be convinced. I didn't get that impression in 2018.

"No," he said he told Orgeron.

So ensminger REALLY didn’t want to be OC.

Good research. But that was interim. I don't recall that same scenario for 2018 OC
