Wasn't Crowton's offense in 07 better than those you just mentioned? And wasn't Les the head coach at that time?
as far as throwing the ball? no.
i just think that miles holds back the OC whether it is crowton or was fisher.

At what point does the "holding back" occur? Miles is not calling plays and he is not signaling plays in.
Posted on 9/7/09 at 7:53 pm to kjanchild
why are LSU fans so fricking stupid?
Posted on 9/7/09 at 7:54 pm to CanShakersDecayedNut
Or maybe Crowton just ran out of magic tricks?

So who held Fisher back when Saban was coach?
These comments are just silly. It is a function of personnel and what the coaching staff perceives as the ability of the team to do specific things.
But I am pretty sure Miles is not saying, "Coach Crowton, I want you to stifle our offense, make sure that the players don't get too many yards and don't run plays that will get us too many points. Hold Jefferson back as much a possible. We don't want him to get the big head."
I guess none of us remember when Flynn said, "Miles trusts us and believes in us to make plays."

...There are many reasons that the Miles holds back this coordinator arguement gotten old and stupid.
1. Isn't it funny that we only hear this when LSU loses or has a dissappointing performance? Why don't we hear the other 80% of the time.
2. I have spoken to coaches and players. None have ever told me that Miles overrides his coordinators. They all say he lets his coaches coach.
3. When has Jimbo ever run a wide open Hal Mumme type offense? He didn't do it under Saban, Miles or at Florida State? He sure hasn't been running wide open offenses when he wasn't being overridden. Is anyone watching tonight's game? I sure don't see one.
4. In his last 4 years, when has Crowton run a wide open Hal Mumme type offense? He sure hasn't been running wide open offenses when he wasn't being overridden.
To me, you can make a lot more hay with the arguement that Miles hasn't overridden his coordinators enough.

the grass is always greener on the other side is'nt it?....when saban was here he was holding back jimbo, then miles held back jimbo, then miles held back crowton....guess what we won 2 of our 3 NCs having the kind of offense we are running....Ill take a "boring" offense if it keeps the results we've been having....

Correct. Also I have never heard any evidence in the media that Miles does this

Three types of threads I've had enough of:
1) Jarret Lee
2) Miles is holding back someone.

All of the two tight end sets is Miles without a doubt.
Remember he was a TE coach for the Dallas Cowboys.

yeah...our offense was horrible in 01, 03, 05, & 06.
Miles was the head coach in 05 and 06. So he was holding our OC back while still allowing the offense to put up great numbers? That's a talented man right there.

yea he needs to lose his control issues and just be a manager and people will start saying what a great coach he is again.
If you guys don't think Saban, Pete Carroll, Joe Pa - any coach on any level - doesn't "hold back" coordinators during games you have truly lost it.

You just said that we had good offenses in 05 and 06. Miles was the coach then.
We passed for 200 more yards in 07 than in 05. We passed for 200 yards less in 07 than in 06 (keep in mind that we were replacing the 1st pick in the draft at QB and 2 1st round WR's in 07). So I'd say Miles didn't hold Crowton back.

Hey dickhead, I was giving an opinion only! Look at my history and you will see I am a Miles supporter. However, I am starting to see some things that I believe could be done differently. One of the things I see is the fact that we rely on POWER too much! We have many good athletes that could be used much like a Texas Tech or Oklahoma style offense. I think Crowton has the mind and the athletes but I don't think he has the persmission.! So, frick you and the horse you rode in on!
You don't want to show your enemies. your entire arsenal. Last year Crowton didn't have the QB to run his system. Let's wait a few more week before we start passing judgement.

Our offense was not a problem last year...JL pick 6s and the D was not good...For 4 years the offense has been good...

This is utter nonsense. Nobody is holding anybody back. They're just inept and lack character and class.
Who ever heard of a team holding back - not showing all their cards - saving it for conference play - or whatever you want to label. A planned 8-point win?? That's preposterous!
Another 5 loss season - book it.
I miss Saban.

In 2005, LSU went 10-1 in the regular season, 11-2 overall.
LSU averaged 226 yards per game passing in 2005, 4th in the conference (Vandy was no 1 with 280, followed by Georgia with 229.) LSU averaged 150 yards per game in rushing, also 4th, no. 2 in pass efficiency, no. 1 in red zone offense,no. 3 in scoring (29.5, same as no. 2 scoring offense, UGA).
LSU In 2006, LSU was no. 3 in passing offense with 251 yards per game, and no. 1 in total offense and scoring, no. 1 in pass efficiency.
LSU averaged 165 yards per game in rushing offense, no. 2 in the conference.
In 2007, LSU was no. 4 in the conference in total offense, 439 yards per game, 225 passsing yards per game (no. 5), no. 4 in pass efficiency, no. 2 in rushing offense, no. 2 in scoring (which is the goal of an offense).
Yes, our offense has truly been held back by Miles.

GO BE a fricking bama fan then. Saban was frustrating here as well. 2002, and 2004 were miserable years IMO just as bad as last year (08). Plus those last second losses
I credit saban with building the program but people seem to forget the issue he had too. I guess time does make you forget the bad.
