It doesn't matter if '07 was a more run oriented offense, it was still a better one. The LSU offense was better after Jimbo left. And there is absolutely no evidence or any reasonable reason to think that Miles "holds OCs back." Except that you and posters like you want to find irrational reasons to criticize a head coach.

Look at Jimbo's offense at FSU and it is pretty obvious that Miles still wants to base it off the Big Ten big back. JMHO!

Crowton doesn't want to overload J.J. with more than he can handle. I don't think Miles is telling Crowton to limit his schemes.

Especially after the way our clueless fan base was so quick to throw J.Lee under the bus last year. Crowton is trying to bring J.J. along based on his ability and not in accordance with the wants and desires of our clueless fan base--JMHO.

I liked Jimbo's scheme more than Crowton, I still do, matter of preference really. Crowton's "here, there, everywhere" style of playcalling doesn't have anything to do with being held back. To explain his playcalling, look at the following truths about LSU's talent.

1. They have a mobile, strong armed, young qb with inconsistent accuracy.
2. They have a powerful, big offensive line that excels at run blocking.
3. They have tall receivers who excel running downfield routes that use their long speed and size rather than footwork and quickness.

This certainly seems like the type of talent that would fit into an offense that runs to set up the pass, uses play action, moves the pocket around, keep the plays simple(not more than 2 reads) for the young quarterback, and maybe, due to his insane athletic ability and strength, incorporate some read option out of the shotgun.

It seems like Crowton does all of this, his play calling often lacks timing and rhythm, but the issue isn't the scheme.

I'm sure you will see a more detailed and multilayered offense, similar to that of 07, when Jefferson matures.

You have to remember that our offense was ok in 03, but it was the DEFENSE that got us the crystal ball.

This is another on of those uneducated threaads. Please if you know anything a bout Football Try and Show it, b/c right now you are not. Lsu has opened it up plenty people. I do recall us throwing the ball down field alot with an experiance QB. OH wait our is only starting his 3rd game. If you would have watch FSU last year you would know how stupid you statement is. Yes he alowing Ponder to open it up this year , oh wait he has started 15 games, maby thats why. Every Coach will protect there young QB. Beside it we did throw the ball down the field all the time like has been suggested then the sam people would complain that charles Scott itn't gettin his carry's. You are chair Qb are funny. Before the game it all JJ need to do is manage and get the ball to his playmakers. Well he did, 3 td passes, who care if he threw the ball 5 yard or 50 yards. But now all of a sudden he need to throw bombs. Will all of you rantards chill. JJ is only in his 3RD game people. Give them a chance . It one fricking game. When we go 3-4 games with out throwing the ball down field and we lose then complain.
