Miles lost me in 2009. I've tried to bite the bullet and find a way to like the guy because he's the LSU coach, but I just can't reconcile it.

For the first time in his career, a very substantial percentage of the LSU fanbase (if it's not a majority, it's at least a substantial minority and definitely a higher percentage than it has ever been) want Miles gone.

For Miles to get me back on his side, we need to beat a&m, finish strong in recruiting I'm talking top 5 class. If we can't follow a major class up with another one then we have major league issues. Then next season beat bama and win the west.

His ship has sailed until he makes the necessary and needed Offensive/QB corrections to turn things around.
I think those are two of the ingredients for CLM to make it to the end of his contract. I think the other two are these: Seriously contend for the SEC championship and beat AlabamaSaban in Tuscaloosa. Until CLM shows he can coach beyond a shade of Bo Schembechler's cloud of dust, and introduce the forward pass to the Tiger team and QB, he's not going to gain any traction with the fan base.

Saban was coarse and abrasive. He was the guy who threw out the "catastrophe symdrome" speech, about all the chicken littles who claim the sky is falling. He basically said HE was running the football team, he knew what he was doing, and everyone else should chill out. Miles hasn't and won't do this, and it's allowed our fanbase to just fester over. Maybe he thought our fans would see the overall success and realize things are under control; but instead, people found new things to panic over.

Nice speech, but Reality is calling and wants to remind you of 1/9, when Nick Saban demonstrated he truly IS IN CONTROL - not only of Alabama, but also of CLM and LSU. Nothing since then has indicated otherwise. Close near-wins are still losses. Giveaway losses are still losses. Blowouts are losses. What's left?

Win the SEC west. Anything else is failure.

a competent offense (unlike 2014) and a stellar defense that doesn't allow teams to win on the final drive (unlike 2012-2013.)

You need to find a better class of friends.

Anyone with a decent football IQ can see LSU is an underachieving program right now. Miles doesn't have a stellar rep. among avid college football fans. This offense isn't helping the reputation, it's a laughing stock

He has not lost a lot of the fan base, just a lot of the Rant..... most of those he "lost" he never had anyway.

had the most embarrassing performance since 1/9 by being shut out by a team with a 17-game SEC losing streak. That might, you know, change perspectives a bit....

It sure did.

It brought all the hardcore Miles haters back out from hiding.

Y'all sure were quiet when the team won, not even posting.

Now, well, now you won't shut up. You got what you want, and are running with it.

So far the season is playing out how most thought it would with 4-5 losses.

And Ole Miss is still a top ten team with two losses. Still a good win.

I'm probably a little easier to please than most. For me, I would just like to see a genuine effort to fix what isn't working.

Player X is consistently struggling? Sub in Player Y for a few series to see if they can do better.

The gameplan isn't working in the first half? Change things up in the second to see if it makes a difference.

I don't mind losing. I really don't. I dont' like it, but I get that it's going to happen. But losing while doing absolutely nothing to fix what isn't working. . .

We all know that saying about the definition of insanity.

I'm more than happy to be informed if I'm wrong. When has Miles' popularity among the fan base been lower than it is now?

I just don't agree with you. This isn't new…and it's certainly something Miles has faced before

Can you think of any time in particular that his popularity was as low as it is now? You may be right, but this time seems different to me. I've seen people who have never been against him before changing their tunes this week. And I've never seen such an overwhelming number of RL people I know being convinced he should go. Obviously, your experience might be different, but to me this sure seems like the worst it's ever been for him.

From what I've seen, he's a LOT more popular on the rant than he is with the rest of the fanbase.

Some people have difficulty telling the difference between a loud minority and the majority. They assume if they don't hear them, they don't exist.

You're certainly right about that. But, now it's not so clear which group is the loud minority and which is the silent majority. By far, the most support I've seen or heard for Miles has been a fairly consistent set of Rant posters. Practically everyone else seems to be leaning the other way.
