"Continuity" for a flailing era seemed like a great idea right?

It was time and I was optimistic for two months. Then Alleva.

It was a mistake. Fine with letting go of Miles if they upgrade or maintain coaching Status. O was a downgrade.

100% this.

LSU should have been so ready to roll with a new coach it wasn't even funny. For as conceited as the Coaching Changes board was up until the end of the season, I don't think any fans would turn their noses up at Larry Fedora, Mike Gundy or Kyle Whittingham at this particular moment.

certainly not my first choice by his resume his infinitely better than O's and he would have put a fun offense on the field.

Mike Gundy

Kyle Whittingham

solid coach, better resume than O, don't know if he'd fit in here though.

LOL, so membership sign ons cant be new? So The Rant should prohibit new members from signing??

And this Tiger Ree, is he supposed to be the only person that hated MILES.

Id bet my life, there are more Miles haters, than miles lovers. THATS WHY HE GOT FIRED

looking back I wish we would have allowed him to finish out the season and then O never gets a look for this job. Who knew what seemed like such a great day, would end up so badly for us

USC wasn't won over from O's record from the interim role, so it seemed like the idea from some was that it didn't have to matter in this instance here unless he won out entirely.

If Alleva had a premonition of this shite, pretty sure he would wait.
That said, he blew 12m on it, so....

LSU waited about three seasons too long to send him packing. He made his mark but went no where fast after 01/09. As a result LSU put itself in Al Gore's Lock Box and we now have a HC who has precious little business being so at LSU.

Will be a while before this mess clears, about five seasons, four at best but more likely five.

I had a bad feeling about the whole ordeal following O's presser, you could tell it was a guy running an election and if we had the slightest turnaround would somehow find himself in the running for a job he had no business being up for. The man is a good salesman, I'll give him that.

That presser was basically a love letter to the anti-Miles faction of the fan base

It's hard to make a wholesale change to offense without having personnel problems.

We currently have a ton of TE's & FB's that we don't need for the system we are trying to run.

The previous system could mask our weaknesses with power sets. Two TE's and a FB which we run over 90% of the time.

The only answer until we have the right personnel is to run more plays to make defenses pay for run blitzes I.e. Screens, draws, quick slants & quick pass to the RB like what u saw Saturday with Brennan to Williams in the third quarter.

At some point, I went through and made a list of coaches who fit the "Les Miles" criteria, or the criteria Skip Bertman used to replace Nick Saban with Les Miles.

The coach needed to recruit successfully at a "secondary" or smaller school. The coach needed to have a few upset victories. The coach needed to have no red flags or infractions, etc.

It was a short list of names. Kyle Whittingham was one of them. I'd take a 57 year old CA Mormon who could coach a successful offense and win games any day of the week.

The pains of miles allowing bama to rape us for years on both lines. At least we're not florida, auburn, Arkansas, a&m, Tennessee or ole miss. It's not that bad yet. We won't fall too far because bama has everyone else sucking too.

Exactly what kind of system do you think we're trying to run? He used a bunch of the same personnel groupings at Pitt that he's using now.

No doubt. I can see how he's an effective recruiter. He knows what people want to hear and gives it right to them with no idea on how he's going to deliver.

I think this is the best and most succinct description I have seen yet. As "internet-over-played" as the following is, I literally think that LSU followed this plan:

1) Winningest coach ever is getting stale
2) Fire said coach
3) ???????
4) Profit

Nobody can really argue with 1 and 2....it is 3 and 4 that have turned out to be a bitch.

He needed to go but w just made the wrong hire.

Should've been jimbo and once he declined it should've been gundy or the guy at Va Tech.

O should have been the last resort.
