Jefferson got WAY more PT before Nov. 5th than Lee did after Nov. 5th. It's not the same thing.
Lee put up 185 yards passing and led LSU from behind last year against Tennessee and played ony a couple of snaps prior to that the previous year and a half and you think 1-2 months is too much??

Did we need Lee or someone else? YES, no question. I'm NOT defending JJ's performance in ANY way. It sucked. The problem was we had no realistic option.
That is absolutely incorrect. Were you watching the first 9 games of the season??? Do you think JL forgot how to throw a football? WTF? JL was a proven successful option. I do agree with you saying it could have been Mett, what would it have hurt? But having JL standing there doing nothing while we slowly self destructed on Off. is crazy.

The game was pretty much over dumbass. We had nothing to lose.
When? After Richardson's TD? probably. Before? I'm not so sure.
And if it was over, then it didn't matter who played, so playing JJ didn't matter either, right?

1) We had other options, we chose to stick with someone who couldn't get past the 50.
2) even if JJ WAS our only option, did we "have no other option" to keep running options and swing passes?
3) IMO, miles did screw up by not putting lee in. When you can't get past the 50 yardline and it's time to try something else.
This wasn't a kid making a play here and there and struggling. JJ was going NOWHERE and there was nothing to do about it but at least TRY something else. If lee went in and threw the game away then thats 1 thing. Miles straight up gave up...

Are you being dumb on purpose?
Nothing was working with Jefferson. It was time to switch to lee.
What was there to lose?

While it will garner the most attention, Miles' failure to play Lee was really the least of his legion sins on Monday. He crafted a gameplan that was laughable and inadequate, his strategy was predictable, he failed to have his team amply prepared to play for a national championship, he appeared unable to anticipate Saban's tactical adjustments or make appropriate adjustments of his own, he stubbornly insisted on the same doomed playcalling as the game progressed, and he was generally outcoached and outwitted in every manner that a head coach can be in a single game.

Miles screwed up not playing Lee, period. And in the future if Miles has no intention of playing someone, who has proved they can contribute, he should have the guts to let them know and allow them to transfer somewhere else.

Are you just going to continue to ignore the fact that Lee has history in leading LSU to victory in come from behind fashion without significant playing time for well over 1 year?

He screwed up by not doing it. For God's sake, you have to try when it's for all the marbles. Miles showed a willingness to pull Lee in the first game against Bama, but he could not pull his Jefferson no matter what.

Funniest part was Saban sat at all the presser's and would speak about JJ's athleticism and how it worried him and all this. It wasn't hard to see he was ready for the option and JJ's running abilities and that was their focus in their gameplan and Miles's gameplan played right into it.

Get a grip. If he had sent JL in and said, "Boy, I want you to throw 3 passes in a row, as far as you can and let's see if one of our guys can catch it.", would that had been any worse than the outcome of the game Monday night? At least we would have tried to do something positive and move the ball down the field.

OMFG YOU'RE DOWN 15-0 HAVE GOTTEN PAST THE 50 ONCE AND MUSTERED ONLY 70 YARDS OF OFFENSE AND YOU ACTUALLY BELIEVE THIS!!!!!?????
What is careless is to keep doing what you're doing when its not working and when the starter looks lost and confused. What might happen if you put in someone who hasn't played since Nov 5th? That he might be lost and confused??? WE WERE ALREADY SEEING THAT FROM JJ.

And I'm sure people would use these quotes as evidence in support of JJ.

I thought our offensive line look defeated more than anything. I agree Lee should've gotten some time, but don't think it would've been effective. Lee tends to panic under constant pressure. i.e. First go-around with Bama.

If as a head coach of one of the best football programs around, you don't make the proper decisions to help your team win a game - that is a failure on his part.
Obviously no one knows whether or not JL could have done anything, but to NOT give it a try is ludicrous. I suppose he lived up to his "Riverboat gambler" title this time as he rolled snake eyes.

The point I'm making is that on Monday, it was too late to change the strategy of 100% JJ.
We understand your point, Hootie, we really do. Honest.
The problem is that you are wrong.
The role of a backup qb is to be ready to come off the bench and take snaps regardless of whether he's had any meaningful game snaps that entire season (which JL had). He was ready.
We had absolutely nothing to lose by sending JL in. The only possible (football) reason Les could have had for NOT doing this was if he genuinely believed that JJ had superior running ability and that it would kick in and he'd start scrambling out of trouble, or that he had the ability to check down to the 2nd or 3rd receiver and that he'd start doing that in the middle of the 3rd quarter (when he hadn't done it for the first 2 quarters).
What is scary is that Les either really thought those things, or he was making a non-football decision about keeping JJ in. Either explanation means we are in for trouble ahead, regardless of our talent.

Yes! Thank you! Everybody's fixated on JL vs. JJ but this is the real elephant in the room. Les got utterly teabagged by Saban. The gameplan, to the extent that there was one, was predictable and unimaginative. To make matters worse, there was no backup plan in case it failed. I've never seen a team in this big of a game so completely unprepared. And on top of all that, why the frick were these two still starters on this team? Were they the best we could find for four friggin' years?
